Excellent guides and tour organization. A guide picked you up from your hotel by bus in the morning. Transfer to the pier. We went on a boat and stopped at islands for snorkeling. They prepared a delicious lunch of fresh seafood and chicken right on the boat. In the evening, we were returned to the hotel by bus. The entire tour cost only $28. A wonderful experience.
What is this tour like?
Red River's 'Red Special' is the slower, cheaper alternative to its speedboat day: a wooden tourist boat on a three-island route, with fishing as well as snorkeling and lunch cooked on board. The transfer from central Dương Đông is free and the programme starts at 08:00; the operator does not publish a duration in hours for this trip.
The fare is by height: 720,000 VND for adults from 1.4 metres, 504,000 for children from 1.0 to 1.4 metres, free below one metre. Included are the free transfer within Dương Đông ward, the wooden boat, one seafood lunch on board, fishing tackle and bait, diving gear — life jacket, mask and snorkel — a guide for the whole route, a bottle of water per guest and travel insurance. One detail the operator prints in its own inclusion list and which is easy to miss: there are no snorkels in children's sizes on board. Not included: transfer surcharges outside Dương Đông (100,000 VND per guest for Ông Lang, Cây Sao and Hàm Ninh; 200,000 for Cửa Cạn and Vũng Bầu; 400,000 for Bãi Dài and Gành Dầu), extra drinks at the meal, tickets for optional water sports at the stop — the sea walker and parasailing are bought separately — and other personal expenses. Red River holds 4.1 on Google from 363 reviews as of 4 September 2026, and guides work in Vietnamese and English.

“Shelby made the tour so wonderful. He was professional and super kind. The tour was amazing and we had a lot of fun during our family trip. The islands were beautiful and we did snorkeling for two times. The snorkeling was held in the middle of the sea, not the beach area, so you should not have fear of deep water if you want to do snorkeling of this tour. Also the lunch was great even though on the boat.”
“I joined the Red River Tour on 29.12.2025 for a four-island trip, and it was a great experience. On two of the islands we went snorkeling, and on one island I paid extra for the sea-walking activity, where you can walk on the sea floor using a special helmet. It was really good fun and something unique. On the last island, we enjoyed dinner and had free time to relax, which was a nice way to end the day. The tour guides were top class - pickup and drop-off were perfectly on time, and the service was excellent throughout the tour.”
