Almost everything sold on the water on Phu Quoc takes a full day — a pick-up before eight, a harbour at nine, a return in mid-afternoon. The night dive is the exception: four hours in the evening, two dives, and back at your hotel by nine.

What does a night dive cost?
Kimie's Tours prices its night trip at $150 per person for two dives and adds a line most operators leave out: the price is the same for the north and the south of the island, so you can pick the side freely.
The trip lasts four hours — pick-up at 17:00, drop-off at 21:00 — and leaves from An Thoi harbour or Dương Đông harbour depending on which side you chose. Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Dương Đông town, scuba equipment and water are included; other areas are surcharged, and gratuities are not part of the price. The page says plainly: certificate holders only.
Flipper Diving Club lists a night dive at 1,400,000 VND (about $54) per person within the price block it publishes for guests staying in the north of the island, alongside 1,000,000 VND (about $38) for one daytime dive and 1,500,000 VND (about $58) for two. Their fun dives are for certified divers only, and their northern programme is closed from 10 May to 20 October.
Why does it cost more than a day trip?
Compare like with like: two dives by day cost $90 per person at Vietnam Active, Phu Quoc Diving Club, Ecodive and at Kimie's own southern trip. Two dives by night cost $150 at the same operator — two thirds more for the same number of dives, in a trip that is three hours shorter. What the surcharge pays for is the boat working outside its normal hours with a smaller group, torches and a night briefing, and a return in the dark.
What does a night dive give you?
The obvious answer is that the same site behaves differently after sunset — the reef's daytime residents settle and the nocturnal ones come out, and your field of view is whatever your torch covers, which changes how you look at things rather than how much you see. Nobody on Phu Quoc sells that as a promise: not one operator on the island guarantees visibility or an encounter with any particular animal, and departure times move with the sea. If the water is unsafe, the trip does not go.
The practical argument is different and firmer. Among full scuba dives, the night dive is the only one on the island that leaves your day intact: you can spend the daylight hours on land and still dive, which matters on a short winter trip where the boat days are already spoken for.
Planning it into the trip
Two constraints decide where the night dive goes in your week.
- The first is the no-flying rule the PADI centres repeat: wait 12 to 18 hours after diving before boarding a plane — an evening dive and a morning flight do not fit together.
- The second is the season: if you want the northern side, the northern trips run only in the dry season, November to April, while the south is available all year.

Can a beginner do a night dive?
No. Kimie's marks the night trip "certificate holders only" and Flipper's fun dives, night included, are for certified divers. A first dive without a licence is a daytime programme — $100 per person for two dives at Vietnam Active, for instance.
Is equipment included?
Kimie's includes scuba equipment and water in the $150, and asks for shoe sizes and weights for everyone in the group when you book. Pick-up is included for hotels in Dương Đông town; other areas pay a surcharge.
North or south for a night dive?
With Kimie's it makes no difference to the price — the operator states the same figure for both sides — so choose by season and by where you are staying. Between May and October the northern option is not on the table at all.
