We had an amazing experience with The Dive. We did three days of diving with them and our dive master PK did an amazing job. The boat was super nice and comfortable, great food and great service from the boat crew.

What is this tour like?

Two dives at the Phi Phi Islands with The Dive Ao Nang, ฿3,500 (about $97). What makes this centre’s price list worth reading is that it does not pretend the seasons are the same: from November to May all dive trips go to the Phi Phi sites; from June to October all dive trips go to the Ao Nang islands instead, at ฿2,700. Either destination can be arranged out of its window on request.

Everything on the centre’s list — courses as well as trips — includes lunch, non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day, and transport to and from your accommodation. The pickup area is defined rather than vague: Ao Nang, Klong Haeng, Klong Muang and Tubkeak. There is no pickup on Railay or in Krabi Town.

All divers on trips and courses are covered by diving accident insurance, and the centre recommends you also hold your own policy covering cancellation and gear.

Marine national park fees are not in the price. The centre publishes them plainly: a diving fee of ฿200 per person per day, an entrance fee of ฿400 valid for three days from entry, and ฿100 for children of fourteen and under. Equipment rental is ฿500 for a full set including a dive computer, nitrox is ฿250 a tank, and an Olympus TG-7 with housing is ฿1,500 a day.

What are the highlights?

  • Two dives at the Phi Phi sites, the centre’s winter programme
  • Seasonal honesty: June to October the same trip goes to Ao Nang instead, at ฿2,700 (about $75)
  • Diving accident insurance covers every diver on the trip
  • Equipment rental including a dive computer is ฿500 (about $14) for the day
  • Camera and housing rental for fun dives — an Olympus TG-7 is ฿1,500 (about $42) a day

Certified divers staying between Ao Nang and Tubkeak. If you are on Railay or in Krabi Town, note that this centre does not collect from there.

FAQ

When do the trips go to Phi Phi?
From November to May all dive trips go to the Phi Phi sites. From June to October they go to the Ao Nang islands at ฿2,700 (about $75) instead; Phi Phi in those months is by arrangement.
Is the price per diver?
The price list does not say. It states the marine park diving fee per person but leaves the trip price without a unit, so we have not filled the gap with a guess. Ask the centre to confirm.
Do I need my own equipment?
No. A full rental set including a dive computer is ฿500 (about $14) for the diving day, listed separately from the trip price.
Will I be picked up from my hotel?
If you stay in Ao Nang, Klong Haeng, Klong Muang or Tubkeak, yes, and it is in the price. The centre states there is no pickup service on Railay or in Krabi Town.
Am I insured?
All divers on trips and courses are covered by diving accident insurance. The centre recommends you also arrange your own policy for trip cancellation, gear loss or damage.
How much are the park fees?
A diving fee of ฿200 (about $6) per person per day plus an entrance fee of ฿400, valid three days from entry. Children of fourteen and under pay ฿100 entrance. Fees change by announcement of the Marine Park Department.
Can I rent an underwater camera?
Yes — an Olympus TG-7 with housing is ฿1,500 (about $42) a day, offered with fun dives.
What other trips does the centre run?
An A-S-K cluster three-dive day — Anemone Reef, Shark Point and the King Cruiser — plus Koh Haa Yai and the Hin Daeng and Hin Muang day. All three are on special request, and the centre does not publish prices for them.

“We went on our first dive at Phi Phi. Liked it a lot, good instructor. On the minus side: there were a few too many people on the boat.”

฿4,300 (about $119) for two dives at Phi Phi, running daily from 1 November to 31 March. Groups are capped at four divers. A non-diving companion travels on the same boat for ฿2,500— that companion line is what shows the price is charged per head. Bring your own kit and the operator takes ฿300 off.

The operator prints “2 dives : ฿4,300” directly above “Passenger : ฿2,500” for the same trip — a separate price for a second body on the same boat, which only makes sense per person.
