What is this tour like?
Two supervised dives to a maximum of 12 metres at Koh Tao, no certification needed, with a maximum of two students per instructor. ฿5,900 per person, a day of about eight hours on the centre's own speedboat with hotel pickup at 08:00.
The programme is for people who want to find out what breathing underwater feels like without committing to a certification course. The instructor teaches the basic theory and familiarises you with the equipment first, then accompanies you on two controlled dives at one of the dive sites around Koh Tao. It is not a certification, but you learn to use scuba gear in shallow water and get a short introduction to the rest.
The day is a fixed shape: pickup between 08:00 and 08:15, the speedboat to Koh Tao from 09:00 to 10:30, the first dive at 10:30, lunch at 11:30, the second dive at 12:30, back to Samui from 14:00 and hotel transfer by 16:00. Guests who prefer to stay on the surface can snorkel at the same stops instead.
Hotel transfer, equipment, certification fee, training material, soft drinks and lunch are in the price. If you decide afterwards to keep going, ask for the SSI Basic Diver upgrade — it costs nothing extra, and if you take the Open Water Diver course within six months your first open water dive is credited as one of the required training dives. Minimum age is 10, and you must not fly within 18 hours of your last dive.
