Dubai's water trips split in two with a child along, long before the price matters. On some the child is a passenger and needs no skill at all: the cruises, the sailing catamaran, a boat charter, the fishing trip, the sightseeing speedboats. On the others the child is the one doing the work, with an instructor and gear included: wake, kite, scuba. The jet ski sits between the two.

There is no single minimum age here — the operator sets it, and it differs by activity. What decides most of the question is something else anyway: how long the trip runs, how many guests it holds, what the price is charged per, and whether your child sits or performs.
Is there a minimum age for water trips in Dubai?
There is, and the operator sets it. It differs by activity, and on the lesson-based ones it tends to follow the child rather than the birthday: height, water confidence and whether they can follow an instructor on the radio. Send us the ages with your dates and we confirm the answer with the operator before anything is paid.
In a few places the age is stated outright. The try dive at sea with Bermuda Diving Center has a minimum of 10: no certificate needed, but the age is firm. The Yellow Boats set their child fare from five: on the 99-minute route a child of 5–12 pays AED 199 (about $54) against AED 299 (about $81) for an adult, while on the 45-minute Atlantis run everyone pays the same AED 149 (about $41).
Otherwise age is rarely the binding constraint: duration, group size and the price unit are. A 240-minute fishing charter is a hard sell to a six-year-old whatever the rulebook says, and a 90-minute cruise with 40 guests aboard is easy at almost any age.
Passenger or participant: the split that decides everything
Where the child is a passenger
Four trips carry guests who need no skill: the Marina dinner cruise, 90 minutes, up to 40 guests, AED 210 (about $57) per person; the sailing catamaran sunset cruise, 150 minutes, up to 30, €65 per person; the yacht charter, 120 minutes, up to 10, €390 for the boat; and the deep-sea fishing charter, 240 minutes, up to 8, €145 for the boat.
On these four a child does what the adults do: sits, looks, eats where food is served, swims where the boat stops. The catamaran anchors for a swim and snorkel in a calm bay, and the yacht drops anchor off the Palm for a swim, so on both of those pack for water, not just for a boat ride.
Where the child is the participant
Three are sessions in which the child performs: the wakeboard and wakesurf session, 60 minutes, up to 5, AED 550 (about $150) per session; the kitesurf and wing-foil lesson, 120 minutes, up to 4, AED 900 (about $245) per person; and scuba diving, 240 minutes, up to 6, €110 per person. All three include the instructor and the equipment.
These are the ones where the operator's age rule bites hardest, and where it is worth asking a second question after the age: what happens if the child stops after twenty minutes. The wake session runs 60 minutes for the boat, the kite lesson 120 with an IKO-certified instructor, and the dive is a PADI try dive for complete beginners.
The jet ski sits in between
On the skyline jet ski tour a child can ride behind an adult rather than drive, which turns a 90-minute performance into a 90-minute ride. A lead guide is on the water with the group, and the group runs to 8 guests. Whether a child may sit behind at all is again the operator's call.
What does a second rider cost on a jet ski?
Nothing. The tour is AED 680 (about $185) per jet ski for 90 minutes, one rider or two, so a parent riding with a child behind pays the same AED 680 (about $185) as a parent alone. All three Dubai jet-ski operators charge by the machine, so a second rider never adds to the bill — the same as on the per-boat and per-session trips, where one price covers everyone who fits aboard.
Important
Read the unit and not the number: the price is charged per machine. Two adults on two skis is two machines, AED 1,360 (about $370). One adult and one child sharing a ski is one machine, AED 680 (about $185). Getting that unit wrong is the single most expensive mistake on this page, and it works in both directions.
How long is each trip, and will a child last?
Durations run from 60 minutes to 240 — a four-fold spread, and wider than the spread in price. For a family that range decides more than anything else on this page, because attention runs out before money does. Sort the eight by the clock first, then by what they cost.
Short: 60 to 120 minutes
The wake session is 60 minutes, the dinner cruise and the jet ski tour 90 each, the yacht charter and the kite lesson 120. Everything in this band ends inside two hours, and the first three end inside ninety minutes. With a young child this is the band to book from, whatever the activity.
Long: 150 to 240 minutes
The catamaran sunset cruise runs 150 minutes, the fishing charter and the dive 240 each. All three are boats or programmes you cannot step off halfway. The catamaran breaks its 150 minutes with a swim and snorkel stop, which is the reason it works with children where a four-hour fishing charter does not.

Some Dubai operators charge in dirhams and others in euro, so a euro line and a dirham line cannot be compared as numbers or divided into one another: the rate on the day of payment is the operator's to name.
Which one should a family actually book?
With a small child
The dinner cruise: 90 minutes, AED 210 (about $57) per person, a boat that takes 40, and a buffet served under the night skyline. If you would rather set your own timetable, the yacht charter is €390 for the whole boat for 120 minutes with up to 10 aboard — nobody else's schedule, and an anchor stop for a swim.
With a teenager
The wake session is the strongest value here: AED 550 (about $150) covers the session for up to 5 people, so a family of four pays it once. Most first-timers stand up inside that hour. After that, the kite lesson at AED 900 (about $245) per person, or the jet ski at AED 680 (about $185) per machine with a parent driving.
With children of different ages
Take the whole boat rather than seats. The yacht is €390 for up to 10 guests and the fishing charter €145 for up to 8, both priced per boat, so mixed ages ride on one bill instead of eight. We work through that arithmetic in when a whole boat beats a seat.
