Nha Trang has exactly one kite and surf school with a published price list, and from November to March it is not in Nha Trang. Kiterabbit moves its kitesurfing lessons for those five months to Phan Rang, roughly a hundred kilometres down the coast, and says so on its own page rather than in the small print.
That single fact decides more winter holidays than any price comparison, so it comes before the numbers.
Winter kite is not in the city. From November to March, Kiterabbit teaches kitesurfing at Phan Rang instead of Nha Trang, in a lagoon that is waist-deep — which, in the school’s own words, makes learning considerably simpler and halves the time it takes. A private kite hour costs 55 USD, a group hour 35 USD per person.

The school prints a warning next to this list that is worth taking literally: all prices may change depending on the season. Treat the figures as the published baseline and confirm the day you book.
Where does the kite school go in winter?
To Phan Rang. In Kiterabbit’s own wording, in the winter months of November to March kitesurfing lessons for Nha Trang guests are held at one of the best spots in Vietnam — Phan Rang — where the lagoon is waist-deep, which simplifies learning considerably and cuts the time it takes in half.
This is not a quirk of one school. The kite season of the whole province runs against the boat season: a neighbouring kite centre — Sorrento Beach Club & Kite Centre at My Hoa in Ninh Thuan — sells a seasonal pass labelled November to April. The wind that makes a kite lagoon work is the same wind that keeps the dive boats off the outer islands.
The practical consequence is blunt. If you are in Nha Trang in December and you want to learn to kite, the lesson happens a hundred kilometres away, or it does not happen. Saying that plainly is more useful than a page that quietly lists a city address in January.
Is there another kite school in the city?
Not with a published price and a Nha Trang address. The other kite schools on this coast — in Phan Rang, My Hoa lagoon, Mui Ne and elsewhere in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan — sit between one hundred and two hundred kilometres away. Nha Trang bay is a boat and dive destination with one wind school in it, not a wind destination with boats attached.
When can you actually surf?
A two-hour private surf lesson is 65 USD and a group lesson 50, from the central beach of Nha Trang. The school attaches one condition to it and does not dress it up: whether a lesson is possible depends on the weather conditions on the day.
Board rental at 12 USD an hour or 30 for four hours is the sensible way to test the water on a day you are not sure about. Shower, toilet and a locker on the beach are free with the school.
What replaces the kite when the wind is gone?
An electric hydrofoil in a closed bay. FlyGuru operates from Maryna Beach Club in Nha Trang and describes its spot as a safe bay without waves or currents, which is the opposite requirement to a kite spot. A sixty-minute eFoil lesson costs 2,000,000 VND (about $77), 1,500,000 for a child under fourteen, 3,500,000 for two people together, and a ten-minute tandem flight is 1,000,000.
For a longer day, the E-Foil Safari runs five hours for 6,000,000 VND (about $231) to Monkey Island and the wild Bounty beach, and a guided two-hour trip to Turtle Island is 3,500,000 VND (about $135). Equipment, buoyancy aid and a radio link with the instructor are inside the price; the instructor talks to you through an earpiece while you ride.
What is included, and what is not?
The kite lesson at 55 USD includes the complete set — kite, board, harness, helmet and buoyancy aid — plus sunscreen and a rash guard if you need them, and insurance on the equipment. The surf lesson includes the board, the same sun protection and the equipment insurance.
Transport is the line to read. A single student is carried on the instructor’s motorbike free of charge. A car is arranged separately at roughly 25 USD for the round trip, shared between all the students of that lesson.
Questions before you book
Can I learn to kite in Nha Trang in January?
Not in the bay itself. Between November and March the school teaches at Phan Rang, and the lesson is a trip out of the city rather than a walk down the beach.
Is a group lesson worth the saving?
It saves 20 USD an hour — 35 against 55 — and costs you the undivided instructor. On a first kite day, when everything depends on someone reading your bar hand, that is the wrong place to economise.
Is the equipment insured?
Yes, the school lists equipment insurance inside both the kite and the surf lesson. That is insurance on the gear, not on the rider.
Are the prices fixed?
No, and the school says so itself on the price page: prices may change with the season. Confirm before you count on a figure.
What can a child do?
FlyGuru teaches eFoil from eight years and prices a separate sixty-minute programme for under-fourteens at 1,500,000 VND (about $58).
