Parents ask two things: will they let the child on, and what will the child cost. Of the twenty-one Pattaya outings gathered here only three name an age, two publish a child rate, and the rest say nothing about children at all. From what age will a child be taken on the water in Pattaya?
There are three hard numbers in the whole destination: four years for parasailing, five as a jet-ski passenger, and fifteen as the line below which the cable wake park needs a parent's signature. Everything else is described in words — and those words are about your particular child, not about a date of birth.
The three written limits
Four, on Manta Marina's half-hour parasailing slot: the operator keeps a separate child category of 4–12, with the adult one running from 13 to 60. An infant may not sit on a lap, and a booking needs at least two people and at most ten in any case. The operator does not recommend the flight for pregnant travellers or people with heart conditions.
Five, on both TSA tours: "6 Islands" and "9 Islands" take a child as a passenger from five, with an adult always at the controls. No licence or experience is needed, and the briefing and life jackets cover everyone. Fifteen, at Thai Wake Park: a rider under fifteen needs a waiver signed by a parent in front of park staff, or notarised in advance if no parent is there.
Where no limit is published
Most of the boat outings name no age. The Koh Larn speedboat is described as suiting families and first-time snorkellers: the bays are calm and life jackets are in the price. The snorkelling day on a dive boat keeps guides in the water beside the group and asks for a waiver before any in-water activity. The sunset catamaran is a seated cruise with no effort involved.
A case of its own is the tandem paraglider over Koh Larn. The operator publishes neither an age nor a weight limit, yet its own site shows a ten-year-old after his first flight. So children do fly, but the number is nowhere written down: settle it before you pay — both the age and the weight.

the child price for parasailing and for the wake park does exist, but neither is printed. That is not a reason to assume it equals the adult one — it is a reason to get it in writing before paying. We ask the operator for those figures at booking and send the answer along with the confirmation.
What suits a pre-schooler and what suits a teenager?
The calmest family day is the 73-foot catamaran Serenity. It runs 09:30 to 16:30 out of Ocean Marina at ฿2,700 (≈ $75) per person in low season and ฿3,250 (≈ $90) in high, with children aged 3–12 at half price and under-threes free.
Hotel transfer within Pattaya, the Thai buffet, the marina fee and island entry are already in the rate, and the boat carries a kayak, a paddleboard and an inflatable slide off the deck.
Cheaper and shorter is the Koh Larn speedboat: ฿1,200 (≈ $33) per person, boarding at 08:30 at Bali Hai pier, back around 14:30, up to twelve guests. Thai lunch, masks, jackets and a guide are in the price. There is no child discount here, but the day is ninety minutes shorter and the boat is faster — with a pre-schooler that often matters more than a discount.
A teenager wants the thing they steer themselves. At the Lakeland cable park a session is ฿900 (≈ $25) with board, jacket and helmet, and the park is described plainly as a format for teens and adults: swimming ability and average fitness are needed. A kite lesson at Blue Lagoon is ฿3,500 (≈ $97) for two hours, groups of up to four, with the instructor coaching by radio helmet.
Tip
the cheapest way in is an hour with a paddleboard. A board at Amara Watersports in Na Jomtien is ฿300 (≈ $8) an hour, with an instructor hour at ฿500 (≈ $14). Take the morning: the wind arrives here after midday, and paddling then turns into work.
Under water it is the certificate that decides, not the age
No dive centre in Pattaya publishes a lower age limit, but all of them publish level requirements. Mermaids Dive Center takes beginners on a try dive with no certificate: ฿3,800 (≈ $105) per person, meeting at 08:00, two dives and lunch on board, groups of up to eight, back at 15:00.
After that the levels start. Real Divers allow the coral sites on Open Water, but the wrecks HTMS Khram, Kood and Mataphon only on Advanced: they sit at 22–30 metres. Pattaya Dive Centre holds the same line and adds a requirement: a signed PADI medical form before any training.
The practical upshot for a family: if only one parent dives, you need not split up. The same Thai Ocean Academy dive boat sells a snorkeller's place at ฿1,200 (≈ $33) — a full day from 08:00 to roughly 16:00, two sites, a hot lunch and snorkel guides in the water beside the group.
What does a family of four pay?
The unit of price decides everything. Two adults and two children aged 7 and 12 on the Serenity day catamaran pay ฿2,700 (≈ $75) per adult and half of that per child — ฿8,100 (≈ $224) in low season and ฿9,750 (≈ $270) in high, transfer and buffet included.
The same four on the Koh Larn speedboat hand over ฿4,800 (≈ $133): no child discount, and the national park fee is paid separately. The "6 Islands" tour for four means two machines at ฿5,900 each, that is ฿11,800 (≈ $327), and the youngest has to be at least five. A morning session at Thai Wake Park is ฿450 (≈ $12) a head plus the compulsory ฿80 wristband and a ฿60 helmet if you do not have your own.
