One operator flies tandem paragliders above Costa Adeje, and it sells two flights that differ in exactly two ways: how high you launch and how long you stay up. Everything else — pilot, kit, insurance, transfer, the shape of the morning — is identical.
Both flights are moved when the wind is wrong. Put the flight at the start of your stay so a bad day has somewhere to move to, and remember the free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
The two flights
The standard flight is €114.99 per person: 15 to 20 minutes of airtime from about 800 m. The performance flight is €129.99: 20 to 30 minutes from 900 to 1,200 m. Take-off is commonly from Taucho above Costa Adeje, and pick-up is in the south of the island or at a meeting point confirmed at booking.
What is in the price?
Both fares include a licensed tandem pilot and the pre-flight briefing, the paraglider, harness, helmet and all required technical equipment, liability insurance, the transfer from the meeting point up to take-off, and free cancellation up to 24 hours before the flight subject to the booking conditions. The transfer matters more than it sounds: getting to a launch site above the resort is not a walk.
Ninety minutes, of which twenty are flying
Both listings are about 90 minutes from pick-up to drop-off. If you are comparing a paragliding flight against, say, an hour on a jet ski, compare the whole block of time rather than the airtime — the flight is the short, loud part of a longer, quiet errand.
Wind decides, so book early
Paragliding is wind-dependent, and Overfly moves flights when conditions are unsafe. One guest's first booking was postponed by a year by weather — an extreme case, but it tells you what kind of product this is.
Use the 24-hour cancellation
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before is unusually generous by the standards of the sea trips on this island, and it is worth using: put the flight at the start of your stay so a bad day has somewhere to move to.
Who is it for, and how fit must you be?
No experience is needed — you fly tandem with a licensed pilot. The only physical requirement either listing states is being able to run a few steps down a slope at take-off and landing. Both flights are listed for one passenger at a time.
Which one should you take?
If this is your first flight and the question is “what does it feel like”, the standard answers it for €15 less. If you want the view to last past the novelty, the performance flight buys height and up to ten more minutes. Both are on the Tenerife paragliding page.
