Ten kinds of activity are gathered here from the south coast of Gran Canaria, and the honest way to choose between them is not by adjective but by three numbers: what the price is attached to, how many hours it takes, and what you have to add on top. This is the whole list, sorted by the first of those.
Check what the price is attached to first. Boats, diving and lessons are priced per person, jet skis per machine, the private fishing boat and yacht per boat: the same number means different things for a couple and for a solo traveller.
Priced per person
Boat trips run from €25 to €125 per person. At the bottom is the 2.5-hour cetacean trip on the Spirit of the Sea, a glass-bottom catamaran for up to 97 passengers with a guide aboard; at the top, the four-hour yacht to Güigüí at €125.
In between sit the two-hour dolphin excursion at €35, the €38 submarine, the €55 Princesa Ico catamaran and the €59 Yellow Boat with lunch and snorkelling.
Diving is €89 to €95 for a first dive and €100 to €115 for a day of certified diving. Parasailing is €60 for the person who flies, with spectators at €20 and €15. Paragliding is €70 or €80 for a tandem flight over Las Palmas. Kitesurfing is €145 for a two-hour private lesson with transfer in the south.
Sea kayaking is €65 per person for four hours into the Mogán caves. Wind sports are €145 for a two-hour private kite lesson or €198 for a five-lesson wingfoil pack at Pozo Izquierdo.
Priced per machine or per boat
This is where people misread the number. A jet ski from Pasito Blanco is €70 for 30 minutes — for the machine, with a second person on the same jet ski adding €10, so a couple pays €80 and rides together. The 25-minute circuit at Puerto Rico is €60 for one rider and €70 for two. From the same harbour the hour-long safari is €120 for one rider, €130 for two, also per machine.
Fishing works the same way twice over: €80 per angler for a place on a six-hour trip, or €750 for the whole boat for up to six. And the private Infinity yacht is €680 for four hours and eight people, with extra guests at €45.

What to pick for whom?
With small children
The Líneas Salmón dolphin trip takes under-sixes free and charges €25 from 6 to 12; the Yellow Boat is free under 3 and €45 from 3 to 11. The Blue Spirit catamaran sets a minimum age of 10, so it is the one to avoid with a toddler.
If you have one free morning
Two and a half hours on the catamaran or three on the Yellow Boat both fit before lunch. A fishing trip does not — it holds the whole day from 9 am to 3 pm.
If German is the language you need
Two operators confirm it: the Spirit of the Sea catamaran and the Atlántida submarine. Everywhere else, plan on English or Spanish and tell us in advance so we can ask the operator what is possible on your date.
What you steer yourself
Not the boats: the private yacht comes with a captain and a guide, a crewed charter rather than a rental you drive away. If self-steering is the appeal, a jet ski is where you get the controls.
