We had booked the Discovery dive with two dives included with Blue Note Scuba. The mood throughout the whole day was great! Mariana and Rita were both simply first class! Mariana took great care of us and looked after us during the two dives. Very likeable and kind! I would recommend it like this any time! An absolutely deserved 5 stars!
What is this tour like?
Discover Scuba is not a certification course; it is a supervised first taste of diving, and Blue Note Scuba runs two versions of it. This is the boat one: two dives in the afternoon, which the operator describes as the option for people who have dived before but are not certified. You meet the instructor at Marina ASIPONA Fonatur at 1:40 pm; on the way out he or she goes over the equipment, safety and the skills you will practise, you try them in a shallow area, and then you make two dives on the reef inside the Cozumel Marine Park. The whole afternoon takes four hours.
The price is 3,300 MXN per person — the online booking bills in Mexican pesos, and the peso figure is the one that repeats across the operator's price list, program page and booking system; its own dollar approximations differ from page to page, from $175 to $190. Tanks, weights, rental gear, the instructor, snacks, fruit and water are included. The marine park fee is not, and is paid in cash on the boat. The online booking takes this program for two people or more, and the minimum age is 10. If you have never breathed from a regulator at all, the operator recommends its one-dive shore session at Tikila Beach Bar first.
What are the highlights?
- No certification needed: a PADI instructor supervises you directly from the briefing to the last minute underwater
- Two dives inside the Cozumel Marine Park, not one — after skills practice in shallow water
- Rental gear, tanks and weights are in the price; snacks, fruit and water on board
- Cha-Kay, a 42-foot boat with twin 300 hp engines, a bathroom, shade and two oxygen kits
- From age 10; the operator steers complete first-timers to its one-dive shore version instead

“I had a great time diving with Blue Note! My instructor Lu was patient and thorough and made sure that I had a safe and enjoyable experience. Being that I am not a certified diver, she was relaxed and kind, but made sure that I was safe and comfortable throughout the experience. I would definitely use them again!”
“The dive was truly incredibleee!! The feeling of being surrounded by colourful fish, corals and that special silence under the sea is something full of calm. Without a doubt, it's an experience I would recommend to anyone who wants to connect with nature in a different and unique way. 🌊🐠🤿 Thank you so much to the instructor and the guide for this lovely experience.✨🤍”
“I am a former PADI instructor and have been diving in Cozumel since the 1980's. I have seen good operators and have heard stories about bad operators over the years. I assure anyone reading this review that Blue Notes Scuba in Cozumel is one of the very best. I have made multiple trips over the past three years and plan to return again in 2027. The boat crew and divemaster were definitely worthy of five stars. They were very accommodating and extremely safe. Their divemaster, Ludyvine, had eyes in the back of her head and her situational awareness of the divers in her group was impressive. As a fellow dive professional, I noticed. She was 100% squared away and safety conscious. Kudos to her! On my last trip I reached out to the owner of Blue Notes with a very specific request for a small group of friends that I brought to Cozumel. The owner, Doug, was able to coordinate our needs with a small private vessel, equipment, crew, etc and I very much appreciate his exceptional service. Note that the attached pics were taken aboard the small private boat I requested as opposed to Blue Notes usual dive boat that is fast, well equipped and even more accommodating.”
