The experience was excellent; they were attentive from the organisation onwards. The big difference from other tours I've done in Mexico is that Darwin's team, captain Mike and Richard weren't there to sell us anything but really to look after us and give us a good experience. Everything was clean, the food light and good, and they constantly offered us drinks. The captain drove properly, as in other places. It was all perfect.
What is this tour like?
Cozumel Snorkel Center's fishing trip is a private four-hour outing on a 30-foot dual-console Pursuit, run by a crew the operator describes as six-time fishing tournament champions. The boat has a full bathroom, fresh water, a Bluetooth stereo, comfortable seating and room for up to eight guests, and it is wheelchair accessible. The crew fishes for mahi-mahi, wahoo, black tuna, bonito, grouper, barracuda and mackerel. Trips leave at 6, 7 and 8 am and at 2 pm, from the Asta Bandera monument downtown, from Marina Asipona or from a private hotel pier on the way.
The price is 15,880 MXN for the private trip. It includes all the equipment, English- and Spanish-speaking crew, insurance, and food and drink: fish ceviche, guacamole and pico de gallo with chips made fresh, seasonal fruit with Tajín, sodas and water, and beer and cocktails for adults. After the fishing you can add a private snorkel at El Cielo as an optional extra; the page does not give its price. “Had a killer day with Emilio and Jose! Super-skilled and pleasant. Jose was a knowledgeable and patient guide. He knew exactly where to direct our attention to see the sea animals. We saw eagle rays, sharks, star fish, sea turtles, and numerous kinds of fish, all whilst Jose took pictures of us with his Go Pro. The photo package add-on was decently-priced. The boat was clean and organized. Had a comfortable, fun and safe day!”
“Boat Intrepid was great! Captain Miguel and crew Leonardo and Fernanda took great care of us. The food was fresh and tasty as well. The boat was solid and secure with enough power for to haul all the guests. They took us to a few snorkel spots and a beach stop where they made fresh ceviche. Hope to visit with them again in the future. One thing to keep in mind is that they don't have flippers onboard, so if you prefer swimming with those and have them, bring it along.”
