What is this tour like?
Phi Phi is an hour of open water from Krabi, which is why this day runs by speedboat rather than longtail. The car collects you between 07:30 and 08:40, there is coffee and a light breakfast at Wangsai's own pier, and the boat leaves at 09:15.
Maya Bay is entered on foot: the speedboat ties up at the floating pier on the far side and a wooden trail leads over to the beach. Swimming and snorkelling are not allowed in the bay itself, so the water stops come afterwards — Pileh Lagoon at 11:20 and the reefs of Phi Phi Leh at 12:00. Lunch is a buffet at a beachfront restaurant on Phi Phi Don, then an hour on the white sand of Bamboo Island before the run home.
The price is ฿1,500 per adult. The national park fee is separate: ฿400 for a foreign adult and ฿200 for a child, paid at check-in. Maya Bay closes each year in August and September by order of Thailand's national parks department.
