What is this tour like?

Bor Thor is about an hour north of Ao Nang, in Ao Luek district, and it is where Krabi's cave kayaking happens. A minivan takes you to the launch point; from there the paddle goes past limestone rocks into Lod cave, a long tunnel hung with stalactites, then out and on to Pee Hua Too — a cave believed to be an ancient burial ground, with paintings on the walls estimated at around 3,000 years old. The route continues into Tham Khao Wong, an enclosed inner lagoon where the group can paddle around quietly.

Lunch is at the Bor Thor seafood restaurant on the river and is included, on both the half-day and the full-day version. Dietary requirements are taken at checkout; the operator lists halal and vegetarian options.

The half day, at ฿1,795 (about $50) per adult and ฿1,595 per child aged 6 to 11, ends after lunch with the return transfer. The operator also sells a full-day version at ฿2,295 and ฿2,095 which adds a swim at Tha Pom river and a bathing session with elephants; that is a separate product; the half day is what is described here.

People who want caves rather than beaches, and are happy with an early start and an hour in the van.
Level
Beginner level, but there is low headroom inside the caves and the light is dim — say so if enclosed spaces bother you.

Flip flops or walking shoes, a swimming suit, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, a towel and a camera.

FAQ

What does the half day cost?
฿1,795 (about $50) per adult aged 10 and over and ฿1,595 per child aged 6 to 11, both stated per person; infants are free. Lunch and entrance fees are inside that price.
How old really are the cave paintings?
The operator says they are believed to be around 3,000 years old and that the cave is believed to be an ancient burial ground. Those are the operator's words and we pass them on as such, not as an archaeological finding.
How long is the day?
Seven hours door to door: a pick-up window of 07:00–08:30, lunch at 12:30 and the half-day return from 13:30. The drive each way is about an hour.
What about the elephant bathing option?
It belongs to the operator's full-day version at ฿2,295 (about $64) per adult, not to this half day. We sell the half day separately so nobody books an animal-contact activity without choosing it.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. The operator states that guides are always present to help and that no prior kayaking experience is needed.
Can children come?
From age 6. A life jacket is mandatory and a child must be with an adult; the operator notes the adult does most of the paddling, so pair a child with a strong adult.
Is the food restricted-diet friendly?
The operator marks the tour as offering halal and vegetarian options and asks for dietary wishes at checkout. Say what you need there and it goes to the restaurant with the booking.
Where does the pick-up cover?
Free pick-up from five areas: Ao Nang, Klong Muang, Krabi Town, Nopparat Thara and Tubkaek. You can also skip the transfer and meet at the start point.
