What is this tour like?
Dive Systems Malta is an SSI Diamond Dive Centre on the promenade at Tower Point, Exiles Bay, in the centre of Sliema. SSI Try Scuba is for complete beginners from age 8 who want to feel what breathing underwater is like before committing to a course.
After a short orientation on equipment and essential techniques, your instructor takes you into shallow, confined water and guides you through basic skills such as mask clearing and regulator recovery, then you swim around in the shallows. Groups are small, with a maximum of 4 divers per instructor. The session lasts 2–3 hours, and the price includes basic equipment rental and the instructor.
If you want more, the next step is the SSI Basic Diver programme, which goes deeper: €135 per person, or €220 for two people with the couples offer. Try Scuba also earns credits towards the SSI Scuba Diver course (2 full days) or the SSI Open Water course (3 full days). After diving, leave at least 12 hours before your flight. Check the medical questionnaire in advance: if you answer 'yes' to any question, bring a medical certificate from a doctor.
