Two questions decide a family day on the sea in Tenerife: what does the child pay, and will they be let on board at all. The first is answered on most pages. The second, surprisingly often, is not.
Only one operator publishes a minimum age. JetSkiPuertoColon: drivers 16+. The three dive centres, both parasailing boats, JetScoot and WOW publish none — get the minimum age in writing before you pay.
Where are child prices written down?
The whale boats are the clearest. Masca Express: €28 adult, €18 for a child aged 2–11, under 2 free. Flipper Uno, two hours: €33 and €23. Three hours with the paella: €40 and €25. Freebird prices children aged 4–11 at half the adult fare on €30, €47 and €62. The sailing yacht is €55 under 10, €65 otherwise.
What a family of four pays
A family of two adults and two children aged five and eight therefore pays €92 on the Masca Express, or €141 on the Freebird three-hour trip with the transfer included. That is the real comparison, not €28 against €47.
Where the age question is unanswered
The three dive centres publish no minimum age. Nor do the two parasailing boats, nor JetScoot, nor WOW. Only JetSkiPuertoColon states one: “single jet ski drivers must be at least 16 years old” — and it says nothing about the passenger on the double.
What guests report
What guests report is not a rule but it is a signal: teenagers of 13 and 15 have flown with a parent on the AJ Fly parasailing boat, a WOW review mentions a son riding a double machine with a parent, and a family of five did the Atlantis beach try dive together. Use those as a reason to ask, not as permission.
How long will a child actually sit still?
The two-hour departures are the shortest time on a deck available here: €28, €30 or €33. The 4.5-hour cruise at €62 is a long day at sea plus transfers, and the operator says as much itself — good with older children, ambitious with small ones. The sailing yacht heels and moves more than a catamaran, which is worth weighing if anyone in the family is prone to seasickness.
The family-friendly extras
On the €62 cruise the hot lunch comes with a special menu for celiacs and vegans on request. Drinks are included on five of the six departures. On the cheapest one, the €28 Masca Express, the operator lists no drinks and no exclusions at all — take water with you or ask before you board. On the AJ Fly parasailing boat, a parent who does not want to fly can ride along for €30 while the children fly — up to three people go up at once.
What should you ask before you pay?
- The minimum age, in writing, for anything except the whale boats and the yacht.
- Whether a child counts towards the boat's capacity on a private charter.
- For diving: what is included, since two of the three centres do not itemise it.
- For a jet ski: who is allowed to ride as a passenger, and at what age.
