Three board sports share this coast and none of them happens where you might expect. Kiting is banned along Los Corales and part of Bávaro. The hotel beaches are protected by reef and give almost nothing to surf. And the paddleboard rental at Pearl Beach Club comes without a transfer. Prices read on the operators' own pages on 2 October 2026.

Kitesurfing: $299
Kite Surf Punta Cana School charges $299 for a three-hour package or a private lesson, teaching on the IKO ladder from Kiteboarder Level 1A up to advanced, with a minimum age of 8. Riders with IKO Level 4 or equivalent can rent a kite for $120 per session of up to three hours, or a wingfoil set for $150; lessons by the hour are US$110 per person.

The part that is easy to miss is where you are allowed to fly a kite at all. It is banned at Los Corales and across part of Bávaro, and the school operates a marked-off zone at Pearl Beach Club. Booking with a centre here is not interchangeable with finding somebody on the beach with a kite: the access to the legal zone is part of what you are paying for.
No wind, no loss
If the wind does not arrive the school moves the lesson to another day, and if it cannot be moved it returns the deposit in full. On a coast where the wind is seasonal that policy is worth as much as the teaching — it removes the risk of paying for a flat week.
A paddleboard: $65
The same school rents stand-up paddleboards for four hours at $65, with premium boards and paddles, it says. It is not a lesson: the team gives a quick introduction, then it is time and a board, so it helps if you can already stand on one.

There is no transfer — the school does not run one — so take a taxi to Pearl Beach Club. The school notes that the trade winds blow hardest from sunrise until about 11:00, the hours of its kite lessons, so plan your paddle around that window.
Surf: $100, and a drive
Macao Surf Camp charges $100 per surfer for a two-hour group lesson on Macao beach, with round-trip transfer, a rash vest and a board matched to your level. The transfer is the point: Macao, up the coast, is where this stretch gets its waves, so a lesson here is never something you walk to from a Bávaro hotel.

If you plan to surf more than once, the packages are better arithmetic: three group lessons are $285 per person and five are $450, which is $95 and $90 a lesson. Privately, three are $360 and five $575. A companion who does not surf rides along for $20.

Questions people ask
Can I kite from my hotel beach?
Not at Los Corales or across part of Bávaro, where it is banned. The school works a marked-off zone at Pearl Beach Club.
Will I be riding a kiteboard after three hours?
It depends on where you start. A first session usually covers kite control on land and body dragging before the board.
