Offshore fishing here is for marlin, mahi-mahi, tuna and wahoo, and the choice is simpler than it looks: you either share the rail or you do not. Prices read on the operators' own pages on 2 October 2026.

The shared boat
Grand Bay of the Sea charges $130 per angler for four hours offshore, with captain, crew, tackle and the licences included. The thing to understand before you book is the rail: on a shared outing the rods rotate between the guests, so you fish in turns rather than continuously. For most people on a one-off trip that is the right trade, and a companion who does not fish rides along for $90.

A $50 deposit holds the place and the balance is paid at the dock on the day.
A private charter
Big Marlin Charters prices its 32-foot Luhrs Open Express from $500 per boat for a minimum of four hours, up to four passengers, with a toilet and a shower on board, which matters on a long outing. The hotel transfer by private van is included. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before.
Snorkelling is not built into the four-hour booking: it is a $50 add-on to any length — four hours $500 or $550 with snorkelling, six hours $600 or $650, a nine-hour day $940 or $990.

Larger boats sit above it and take more people: five on Blue Sky and Gone Dog, six on Sherlock and eight on Fortuna, from $550 to $700 for four hours. Grand Bay also charters privately — $700 for four hours, $800 for five, $1,085 for six and $1,365 for eight.
Four, six or nine hours
The $500 on the “Cana” page is the four-hour price. The rate page’s average of $600 per boat covers the whole fleet, and it is also what six hours on the “Cana” cost. Ask for the figure for your date and length in writing before you pay.
When the maths favours a charter
Four anglers on the shared boat come to $520, against $700 for Grand Bay’s own four-hour private charter. Big Marlin’s private Luhrs starts at $500 for up to four passengers — so from four people the private boat is the better arithmetic as well as the better day, provided the four-hour outing is enough.

Questions people ask
Do I need experience?
No. The crew rigs the lines and works the rods with you on both kinds of trip.
Can a non-fishing partner come?
On the shared boat, yes, at $90. On a charter the boat is yours, so it is a question of seats rather than price.
What if the sea is rough?
Bring tablets if you are prone to seasickness: four hours offshore in a 32-foot boat is a different motion from a catamaran at anchor.
