What is this tour like?
Four hours offshore after marlin, mahi-mahi, tuna and wahoo, on a shared boat with the rods taken in turns. $130 per person; a spectator who does not fish pays $90.
This is the way to get offshore without paying for a whole boat. The trade is the rail: on a shared outing the rods rotate between the guests, so you fish in turns rather than continuously. For most visitors on a one-off trip that is the right trade.
Captain, crew, tackle and the licences are included. A $50 deposit holds the place and the balance is paid at the dock on the day of the outing.
If you would rather not share, the same operator charters privately: four hours $700, five hours $800, six hours $1,085 and eight hours $1,365. Split between four anglers, the four-hour private charter comes to $175 a head against $130 on the shared boat, and the six-hour one to about $271.
What are the highlights?
- A shared boat, so offshore fishing without charter money
- Captain, crew, tackle and licences are all in the price
- Everyone gets a turn on the rods rather than whoever grabs first
