I recently went on the Four Islands tour and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was very well organised and the entire trip was smooth and enjoyable.

What is this tour like?

Wangsai run their own pier west of Ao Nang, and on this trip the longtail — the wooden boat that is the symbol of Thai coastal travel — is booked for your group alone. Pickup is between 08:00 and 09:00, coffee is waiting at the pier, and you cast off around 09:15.

First stop is Phra Nang Cave Beach at Railay, with its Sea Goddess shrine set into the rock. From there the boat runs to Tup Island, where at low tide the Talay Waek sandbar rises out of the sea and links across to Chicken Island; after the photographs there is a snorkelling session over the reef. Midday is spent on Poda Island with a picnic lunch on white sand, and you are back at the pier in the early afternoon.

The operator prices this as a group booking rather than per head: ฿6,250 (about $173) covers the boat with one guest aboard and rises in small steps to ฿8,100 with ten. The national park fee is charged separately at the gate.

FAQ

Is that the price per person?
No. The booking form prices this as a group, not per head: ฿6,250 (about $173) buys the boat with one guest aboard, and the total rises in small steps — ฿6,400 for two, ฿6,700 for four, ฿8,100 for ten.
How many people can come?
Up to ten — the booking form runs price tiers from one guest to ten and stops there.
Where does the boat leave from?
From Wangsai's own pier west of Ao Nang. Hotel pickup at 08:00 is offered from Ao Nang, Ao Nam Mao, Klong Muang, Krabi Town, Tubkaek Beach and Railay Beach.
What is included?
Return hotel transfer, a light breakfast at the pier, a Thai picnic lunch, drinking water and fruit, mask and snorkel, life jackets, an English-speaking guide and basic accident insurance.
Is the national park fee included?
No. Foreign visitors pay ฿400 per adult and ฿200 per child at the gate; the operator's booking data marks the fee as not covered by the tour price.
Which islands are on the route?
Phra Nang Cave Beach at Railay, Tup Island with the Talay Waek sandbar, Chicken Island for snorkelling and Poda Island for the picnic lunch.
Can we go with small children?
The booking form has age bands for infants from two and children from four, and a Russian-speaking guest wrote that they took children from three to Hong Island with this operator without trouble.
What if the weather is bad?
Andaman weather and tides decide the running order. If conditions are unsafe the trip is moved or refunded — the operator confirms the arrangement when they take the booking.
