My first time at the age of 70. Quite nervous but it was well worth it. Id do it again in a heartbeat. Thought we might get wet but nothing. The landing is probably the hardest but you can do it.

Booked a 30- minute jet ski rental and parasailing in cozumel Mexico for my family. We did them both at he same time. My daughter loves their parasailing tour. Great prices and friendly staff. I recommend them for sure!

Parasailing in Cozumel from San Francisco Beach

I booked parasailing a few months before my cruise. The reservation was easy, required a small deposit, and offered cancellation/refund up until the last minute. The day I got to Cozumel I was not feeling well. I emailed them at approximately 1:00pm to cancel my 3:00pm reservation. I received confirmation around 3:15pm that they canceled and refunded my deposit. I then realized the card I had used to make the reservation had been compromised and replaced. I replied to let them know this and I would understand if they couldn’t process the refund. I received a reply thank me for my understanding and explain that many banks due process returns despite a card being cancelled. Fortunately the refund showed in my account later that night. Email communication was great. Any issue of time delays were related to my lack of cell/wifi while in Cozumel. They honored their cancellation policy and their communication was clear and helpful.

You check in at the operator's tent on the sand in front of San Francisco Beach Club, km 14.5 of the southern coastal road, and board with the other flyers of your time slot. The operator limits the number of flights per day, so the slot is fixed when you book. It describes itself as a family business flying parasails since 1999.

How long, and how high?#

The excursion is listed at 30 minutes, with 15 minutes of flight. The operator's flight description speaks of 10 to 12 minutes up before a slow descent of about two minutes, and for cruise passengers it suggests allowing about an hour in all. On height the same page says 300 to 400 feet in its FAQ and 500 feet in its headline; wind and weight decide on the day.

Why no more than two?#

The operator writes that Cozumel regulations limit parasailing to tandem flights, so one or two people go up at a time, within 450 lb (204 kg) together. A group of three books a tandem and a solo flight. The captain has the final say depending on the wind.

Will you get wet?#

Not unless you want to. You sit on the back platform in a harness, the boat speeds up and lifts you off, and you land on your feet on the same platform; a dip is only on request, and you do not need to swim. The operator suggests a swimsuit with a light layer on top.

Tandem
two people flying together under one parachute, the largest flight the operator books.
Day pass
free entry to San Francisco Beach Club for each flyer: loungers, pool, water toys, restrooms and showers.
  • Your time slot: flights per day are limited.
  • The combined weight if two of you fly: under 450 lb.
  • Day passes for anyone in your group who does not fly: they are sold separately.
  • A taxi from the pier or your hotel.

Important

The operator advises against flying if you are pregnant, have a history of serious back or neck pain or injury, or are not in good health.
