What a great experience from start to finish. Pay the extra and do the combo tour of both islands with the transportation - makes for a super smooth day, keeps the margaritas flowing! The reef snorkel experience was stunning and Contoy had some sting rays in the bay to see too. Ulises and the crew were awesome! 😍
What is this tour like?
Contoy Adventures runs this day from its own terminal at the Punta Sam ferry dock on the north side of Cancún. The boat stops first at Isla Mujeres for about an hour, then anchors at the Ixlache reef for 35 minutes of snorkelling before heading on to Isla Contoy. The island has been a national marine park since 1998 and lets only 200 visitors a day ashore; certified guides lead an island tour past its lagoon, a magnet for birdwatchers, and the rest of the time is yours on the beach.
The operator's own timing is roughly 9:45 to 18:00, not counting the drive. Hotel pickups start around 7:00 south of Playa del Carmen and around 8:40 in Cancún; the exact time comes after booking. The $20 dock and park bracelet is paid in cash at check-in and is not in the ticket price.
