Cancún, Mexico · 4h · up to 6 guests · $780 per boat for 1–6 guests, 4-hour bottom-fishing trip, 16% tax included · EN
I can’t say enough good things about captain Hector and crew Oliver and Antonio on the Kianah! The owner Alex listened to my wants and exceeded expectations. I had 3, 18 yr old boys, I told Alex we were more interested in quantity than quality. We started the morning going out 12 miles, hooked up to a white marlin within 30 min. Greatest thing was we didn’t spend much time in any one area, if bite wasn’t on we moved. I will be back! I’ve done multiple charters in MX and this crew was by far the best!

The clock runs from the moment the boat leaves the dock until it is back, and the operator is frank about what that means: the first miles off the coast are national park, snorkelling and diving sites, so lines go in 45 minutes to an hour out. On a four-hour trip that leaves roughly two hours of fishing — depart at 7:00, back by 11:00 — and the four-hour charter is bottom fishing only, mostly small reef fish and barracuda. Six hours reach the edge of the continental shelf east of Cancun for trolling, bottom fishing or jigging; the operator calls eight hours its most popular trip and recommends at least that long for sailfish, marlin or mahi-mahi. Kianah's SportFishing has been running boats out of Cancun and Isla Mujeres since 2000 and says it works directly, without agencies or brokers.

- Beer, sodas and bottled water on every trip; food and T-shirts from eight hours

- 7:00Leaving Sunset Marina
The Kianah leaves the dock at Sunset Marina & Resort, Kukulcan km 5.8. The charter time starts now; in the operator's own example, a four-hour trip that departs at 7:00 is back by 11:00.
- 7:00–8:00The run out past the hotel zone
The first miles are national park and dive sites, so the boat runs 45 minutes to an hour before lines go in. In winter, when the boats chase sailfish north of Isla Mujeres, the operator says the run is longer.
- —Bottom fishing
The four-hour trip is bottom fishing only — the operator calls it the most productive style in Cancun, available all year, for grouper, snapper, amberjack, triggerfish and some sharks.
- —Trolling offshore on longer trips
From six hours the boat reaches the edge of the continental shelf east of Cancun. The operator lists barracuda, kingfish, blackfin tuna and wahoo as trollable all year, some months better than others.
- 11:00Back at the dock
On a four-hour trip you are back by 11:00. At the end of each trip the crew cleans any fish you want to take, and the catch is yours.

“We had an excellent experience with Captain Hector, and mates Oliver and Antonio. We hooked up with 4 sailfish, landed 2, and also caught red snapper, bonitas, and amberjack. Great experience overall, wouldn't change a thing.”
“Had an amazing day with Kiana’s Sport Fishing! The crew—Hector, Oliver, and Antonio—were outstanding from start to finish. They worked incredibly hard to put us on fish, and we ended up catching a lot throughout the trip. What really stood out was how great they were with my 10-year-old. They were patient, encouraging, and made sure he was involved and having fun the whole time. It made the experience even more memorable for our family. Highly recommend Kiana’s Sport Fishing if you’re looking for a fun, professional crew that knows how to find the fish!”
“Very professional, quick and polite. The boat and the equipment in excellent condition. The crew really keen to work. I booked a 6-hour bottom-fishing charter and got lucky, one bite after another, pulling up huge amberjacks. The crew did not waste a single minute of the charter.”
“Unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. We booked this tour in advance and arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time (7:00 a.m.). When we arrived, they simply told us the tour had been cancelled because, according to them, they had tried to contact us. That is not true. I checked my phone and received no call and no WhatsApp message, which was precisely the channel they used to send me the booking confirmation. If they had really tried to get in touch, there would have been some record. The most frustrating part was only finding out about the cancellation when we got there, after getting up very early and planning our day around this activity. A cancellation can happen, but the least they can do is give notice in time and use the same channel through which they confirmed the booking. I would not recommend this company because of the lack of communication and the little consideration for their customers' time.”
