Yesterday we did a cenote dive with Fran. I am an extremely anxious diver and did not want to join at all. Fran handled it absolutely professionally, and I managed to dive through the cenotes. An absolutely great experience. Fran kept calming me down and in the end left the decision to me, without any pressure. Overall, everything ran very smoothly from booking to the end. All questions were answered in advance on WhatsApp. We were picked up from the hotel and brought back again. Fran is one of the best guides I have had so far. Many thanks for this great dive experience 🤿

Only Bubbles is a family-run dive shop at km 6.5 of Kukulcan Boulevard in Cancun's hotel zone; its cenote page explains that cenotes form where the limestone collapses and exposes groundwater filtered clear by the rock. The cenotes lie inland on the Yucatán Peninsula, and the operator does not give a drive time, but the schedule shows the scale of the day: pick-up between 6:30 and 7:30, back in Cancun between 3:00 and 4:30 pm, both depending on the cenote. The price is set per cenote or pair of cenotes, and each option carries a level: Chac Mool, Chikin Ha and Eden Garden with Little Brother are open to all levels, Dos Ojos and Tajmaha are recommended for intermediate divers, and The Pit, Dream Gate, Angelita and the Kin Ha, Maravilla and Zapote pairs require an advanced level.

“Did a 3 day PADI dive certification with Fran and Gabi and I cannot recommend this enough! We started off in the pool on day one, then did one day in the Cenote and one day in the ocean. We were going to have bad weather one day, but Fran improvised an amazing experience instead and gave us great options. I was spontaneously asked if I wanted to get this certification, and not going to lie, my brain did it’s fair share of worrying. But with the e-Learning knowledge and the pool day with the skills practice, I felt really good about the instruction on the surface. Underwater, both instructors were great, encouraging and also providing helpful guidance. They taught me how to breathe to be neutral buoyant and how to clear my ears, especially when I had a difficult time (underwater!). And they supported our group of 5x with all of our individual needs with their patient guidance, like managing a panic attack or correcting someone’s really wacky arm swimming haha. I also felt really safe during the dives. The dive plan was so clear and when we went down, Fran did an amazing job leading us and Gabi took care to watch us from behind. Not to mention their impeccable planning of all the logistics - the boat, the suits, the tanks, the replacement equipment for all the dives, managing all the people involved, the driving to and from the cenote (!!). We didn’t worry about any of it, they took care of everything. Wow. Fran and Gabi went way out of their way to make sure we had the right instruction. They were also absolutely incredible people, so kind and friendly. I am so grateful to have done this and to have met them. I highly recommend this experience with these guys, it was out of this world. 👏”
“After a few weeks of research and reaching out to a few local dive shops I messaged Only Bubbles on WhatsApp. Fran promptly responded and answered all my questions and sent me a full breakdown of my dive plans. My girlfriend only wanted to dive one day and I wanted to complete my Advanced Open Water Course. Fran made the dive plan so we could dive together and the other days I could complete the course. The weather the first two days was bad and caused the port to close so we couldn’t dive. Fran always reached out immediately with an update and let me know when we could go. Fran was also accommodating with a last minute dive change by me. It had been years since our last dives so we took the refresher course with Manuel who made sure he went over all the basics and made sure we felt safe. Over 3 days and 6 dives I dove with Manuel, Gabi and Oswaldo. All 3 instructors were very knowledgeable. Two of the days I went with Manuel who made sure I was comfortable and knew the dive plan. During my navigation dive with Gabi my mask kept fogging up so she gave me her mask so I could navigate without having to constantly clear my mask. Everyday the dives were amazing from the beautiful coral reefs to the wreck dives and the unlimited amount of sea life we saw. While I had all my own gear, my girlfriend used their equipment which was new and in very good shape. I will definitely be diving with Only Bubbles in the future.”
“I had two great dives with Fran. He is friendly, fun and patient. He is also very knowledgeable and speaks perfect English (and Spanish). The price was very reasonable. I've been to some great dive sites and I honestly wasn't expecting much from Cancun, but I was really surprised. The reefs were healthy and the aquatic life was abundant. We saw two nurse sharks!”
