Cancún, Mexico · 3h 30min · $75 per person, round-trip transport from hotels in Cancún's Hotel Zone or downtown included
Great snorkeling experience. They pick you up at your hotel/condo. It's about a 30 min drive from the central hotel area in Cancun to the small marina. The tour I was on went to five different snorkeling locations. Was able to see 2 sea turtles and even swim alongside one! Was able to see many different fish and even swim in the middle of some schools. The crew was very good, and I felt safe during the entire trip. A few things to consider: You need to be in somewhat decent shape as it's a lot of work but also really fun. The ocean was pretty rough, so be prepared for a rough boat ride. You go out on a small speedboat. If you easily get seasick, you may want to skip the trip. Even though you have life vests, with the strong currents, you will need to work to swim around. They have a crew member taking pictures and videos of everything. I purchased the photo and video package for about $65. Would definitely do it again !
What is this tour like?
Total Snorkel Cancun's marina sits half a mile from the reef, so the boat reaches the first spot in about five minutes. After a hotel pickup and a short briefing on breathing through the snorkel and clearing the mask, the group swims the El Meco reef (8–12 feet), a spot the operator calls its secret turtle area — it says it sees between one and five turtles 96–98% of the time — the MUSA statues, a shipwreck and a cenote that opens under the sea.
The whole trip is 3.5 hours with two hours in the water. Transport from Cancún hotels is in the price; a $20 per person surcharge is paid at check-in. Sunscreen is not allowed in the water to protect the reef, so the operator suggests a long-sleeved shirt or rash guard instead.

“Total snorkeling was amazing! Monse did a fantastic job with photographing everything and Kiki (Enrique) did a great job with videos and keeping us safe. Barracuda drove the boat that held just 6 of us. We saw 4 turtles! The only thing I would suggest is doing the sting ray stop also. I didn't realize that was an option!”
“Amazing experience!! Booked a snorkel session for my mom, my brother, and I the day before and worked out perfectly. My mom was a nervous swimmer and they made her feel very comfortable in the water and accommodating her. Emilio, Peely, and Angle was our squad and were the best!! I cannot stress enough how wonderful of an experience this was!! Definitely recommend for a 2-3 hour experience. We paid an additional $9/each to be picked up and dropped off to our hotel, which was a great deal. Honestly great service from everyone involved!!”
