The place to be. A superbly organised school. I spent several days here wing-foiling with Robin and out on the boat, and everything fitted perfectly. Many thanks to Robin — he teaches everything about foiling in a way you understand, you can ask him anything and he explains it with real passion.
What is this tour like?
A 1- to 5-day wing-foil course at Flag Beach and the El Cotillo lagoon, an hour and a half a day. Day one is the wind, the gear and a first go on a SUP board; day two you learn to stand on the foil while being towed behind a boat, water-ski style; from day three wing and foil come together. €120 for one day up to €520 for five, with a VDWS wing-foil certificate available for €20 from the only VDWS centre in the north of the island.
The school splits wing-foiling into two products. One is a 1.5-hour course it describes as suitable for people with no prior watersports skills at all. The other is the 1- to 5-day course, which teaches the wind, how to ride a foil, and how to combine foil and wing — and which is the one priced in the ladder below.
What makes it unusual is the second day. Rather than putting the wing and the foil in your hands at once, Flag Beach separates them: day one is spent learning about the wind, preparing the gear, practising on the beach and then going onto the water on a SUP board; day two is foil only, standing up on it while being towed behind a boat, taught like water-skiing. Only on day three do foil and wing come together on a foil board, and days four and five are more of the same riding. Each of those days is an hour and a half.
Prices run €120, €220, €320, €420 and €520 for one to five days. The international VDWS wing-foil licence, book included, is €20; Flag Beach is the only VDWS centre in the north of Fuerteventura and is authorised to issue it. Lessons start at 10:00 or 14:00 and take place at Flag Beach and the El Cotillo lagoon.
If you are already flying and want to go out alone, the school rents wing-foil kit: a complete setup is €70 for half a day, €80 for one day, €140 for two and €190 for three; a wing on its own is €40 for half a day and €45 for a day; a board on its own €45 and €55. The rental page links to a third-party insurance product, and Flag Beach's terms make each client responsible for their own holiday and personal accident insurance. Its beach base runs 10:00–19:00 from April to September and 10:00–17:00 from October to March.
One note about the unit, consistent across all of the school's price lists: the figures are course prices and the pages do not say "per person". Ask the office how a second participant is charged before you plan a total for two.
What are the highlights?
- Day two is spent learning the foil behind a boat, water-ski style, before the wing is added
- Sessions of 90 minutes — short enough to fit a holiday day around them
- Two starting times, 10:00 and 14:00
- Flag Beach is authorised to issue international VDWS wing-foil certificates

- Day 1The wind, the gear, and the water on a SUP board
Learning about the wind, preparing the gear and practising on the beach, then out on the water on a SUP board. An hour and a half.
- Day 2Standing on the foil, towed behind a boat
Water-ski style instruction, but on a foil: the wing is left out entirely so the balance can be learned on its own. An hour and a half.
- Day 3Foil and wing together on a foil board
The two halves of the sport are combined for the first time. An hour and a half.
- Days 4–5More foil and wing riding
Ninety minutes a day of riding, which is what the school lists for both days.
What's included in the price?
- Tuition at a VDWS centre authorised to issue international wing-foil certificates
- The boat used for the towed foil session on day two

What's not included?
- VDWS international wing-foil licence with book — €20
- Rental outside lessons — complete setup €70 half a day, €80 a day, €140 two days, €190 three; wing only €40 / €45; board only €45 / €55

- Accommodation — the school's packages bundle it with courses and beach transfers, but this is the course on its own

“I did a 5 day introduction one on one course. I alternated between Robin and Paul as my instructors. Both were excellent and patient with me. I haven't tried any wind sports before and there was a lot to learn and using muscles I have not used before. My main tip is to build up some leg stamina and strength beforehand.”
