Fuerteventura, Spain · 1h · €110 per one-hour private lesson on day 1, one student with one instructor · ES · EN
I spent more than half a year on the island learning to windfoil with them. I had never done any sport of this kind and the experience has been incredible. It took me very little time to be able to enjoy it on my own without trouble, and I always felt at home and was treated wonderfully.
What is this tour like?
Private wing-foil tuition in hour-long sessions on the flat water of Matas Blancas, at the northern end of Sotavento. The teaching order is the point. On day one you spend an hour on spot information, balance exercises, wing drills on the beach, preparing the gear and then going into the water — on a beginner board designed without a foil, so that the only new thing in your hands is the wing. Day two brings the two together: an hour learning to handle the foil with the wing, lifting the foil, and turning and changing direction. Day three is another hour on the same ground with right-of-way rules added, and the school says the course can be extended — it offers one to five days, or more.
Each of those hours is private: one student, one instructor, a jet ski if it is needed, and the whole wing-foil kit provided. The prices step down as the days add up: €110, then €100, then €90. If you would rather try before committing to the private track, there is an hour-long group taster called "Prueba wingfoil" at €55, for a minimum of two people and a maximum of five, which stays on the beach and covers controlling and flying the wing, with wetsuit and wing supplied.
One caveat on the unit. On its kite and windsurf pages the school writes plainly that the price is per person; the wing page does not repeat that line. The private lessons are for one person by definition, so €110, €100 and €90 are unambiguous — but check how the €55 taster is counted before you plan a total for two.
Once you can ride upwind, the rental fleet is open to you: a complete set of board, foil and wing is €60 for an hour, €72 for two, €84 for three, €96 for a day, €180 for two days and €216 for three. Impact vest, helmet, harness, wetsuit and insurance are not in that price; changing equipment as often as you like, the rescue pack, the changing rooms, wifi, the chill area and lockers are. The school says a 5 m wing gets you flying in about twelve knots, and that its bay is sailable all day whatever the tide. If the wind fails at your lesson time, the session moves to another hour or the next day and stand-up paddle is free that day. The base is open 10:00–17:30, and 9:30–16:30 in winter.
What are the highlights?
- Day one has no foil at all — a beginner board first, so the wing is the only new thing to learn
- One instructor per student, with a jet ski on hand if it is needed
- Flat water at least 1.5 m deep in a bay the school says does not depend on the tide
- Cabrinha Mantis V3 and Vision wings, and a complete rental kit from €60 an hour
