What is this tour like?
The Freediver course with Apnea Total on Koh Tao: two days of classroom in the morning and sea sessions in the afternoon, at most three students per instructor, certification to 20 m. ฿7,000 per person, from 11 years old.
The course is for people with little or no ocean experience and no freediving training. Each day starts in the classroom at 8:30 with breathing, equalisation and safety, followed by a water session: duck-dives, finning technique, body position and dives on a line, to a maximum of 12 m on day one. The only test for the certificate is a simple rescue from 6 m on the second day.
You need to swim 200 m on your own, with or without fins. Under-15s take the Junior Freediver course on the same schedule with a 12 m limit and no rescue test. After the course you get online access to the materials; with three more days on the island you can go straight on to the Advanced course.
