We had a fantastic day with Andaman Sea Kayak and would absolutely recommend this tour. We visited four different locations, and each one offered something unique.

What is this tour like?

Andaman Sea Kayak runs the classic Phang Nga Bay day, and it is deliberately the daylight counterpart to the starlight trips. Pick-up is between 09:00 and 10:30, you board at Ao Por pier on Phuket's north-east coast at about 11:00, and an escort boat carries you and the canoes out into the bay.

The paddling happens in three-seat inflatable canoes: the guide sits in the back and does the work, two guests sit in front. At Panak Island you go into caves 20 to 150 metres long — dark, with bats and macaques on the walls. Lunch is a buffet on board, then the boat passes the island from The Man with the Golden Gun. Around 15:30 you reach Hong Island, a ring of rock with a lagoon inside. Transfer back to the hotel at 18:30.

One thing worth knowing before you compare prices: Phang Nga Bay is not Phuket. It is the marine national park of the neighbouring province, about an hour by boat from the Phuket pier — the same relationship Fujairah has with Dubai. The transfer and the park fee are inside the ฿3,950.

What are the highlights?

  • Daytime alternative to the evening trips — you are back at your hotel by about 18:30
  • Caves of 20–150 m on Panak Island, then the lagoon inside Hong Island
  • Three-seat inflatable canoes — the guide sits at the back and does all the paddling
  • Buffet lunch on board and BBQ chicken on the way back
  • English- and German-speaking guides declared daily by the operator

FAQ

What does ฿3,950 cover?
One adult on the full-day Phang Nga Bay trip: guide and land transfer, escort boat and kayak equipment, snacks and soft drinks, buffet lunch on board, personal insurance and the national park fee. The operator publishes ฿1,975 for a child aged 4–12.
Is this trip on Phuket?
The pier is on Phuket — Ao Por, in Thalang. The kayaking itself is in Phang Nga Bay, the marine national park of the neighbouring province, roughly an hour out by boat. You start and finish on Phuket, but the islands are not Phuket islands.
Do I paddle myself?
No. The canoes seat three: the guide sits in the back and does all the paddling, two guests sit in front. There is one stop at a beach where you can take a canoe out on your own if you want to.
How long is the day?
About nine and a half hours. Pick-up is between 09:00 and 10:30, boarding at Ao Por around 11:00, and the transfer back to the hotel leaves at 18:30.
Is the national park fee extra?
No — the operator lists it inside the price. On many Phang Nga trips the fee is collected separately on the day, so it is the line worth checking before comparing two quotes.
Which languages do the guides speak?
The operator states an English-speaking guide and a German-speaking guide every day. French and Italian guides exist but only on certain days — ask us to check the date before you book.
Can you cater for a special diet?
Yes. The operator caters for vegetarian, vegan, no-seafood and allergy diets, but asks to be told before the day of the excursion — send us the requirement with the booking.
Who runs the trip?
Andaman Sea Kayak, based at Ao Por in Thalang, Phuket. Google rates the company 5.0 across 471 reviews.
Are there child and infant rates?
Yes. The operator's own price banner reads ADULT ฿3,950 / CHILD ฿1,975, and its booking form asks separately for Adults aged 13 and over, Children aged 4 to 12 and Infants. The child rate is exactly half the adult one.
Is the transfer free from Khao Lak as well?
It depends on the season. From 1 October to 30 April the operator gives a free transfer from Phuket and Khao Lak daily. From 1 May to 30 September the Phuket transfer stays free in every zone, but Khao Lak is free only on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; on other days a private transfer is ฿3,000.
