The Black Pearl Pirate Day Cruise — Four Hours of Sword Fights, Cannons and Two Swim Stops out of Ayia Napa Harbour
A three-level pirate ship that sails at 10:30 and is back around 14:30, with a costumed crew running a show the whole way: flag-making, pirate training, the oath, a Davey Jones sword fight and a cannon battle. Lunch is included and there are two swimming stops with a plank to walk. €45 per adult, €25 per child from two to twelve, under-twos free.
Ayia Napa & Protaras, Cyprus · 4h · €45 per adult for the four-hour pirate cruise with lunch · EN
Great experience, not only for kids but also for adults. Despite the heavy winds, the boat was relocated to a nearby bay. Buses to bring us to the bay were waiting for the guests at the agreed meeting point. Once onboard, the show began and it was a lot of fun. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The food was rather tasty — better than what I expected on an excursion. I would totally do it all over again and highly recommend this excursion, especially for its good organization.

The Black Pearl is based in Ayia Napa harbour and describes itself, without much modesty, as the biggest pirate boat ever to plunder the Mediterranean. The point of the trip is not the coastline, though the coastline is there — the operator's own route line is "all sites of Ayia Napa" — but the programme running on deck from the moment you board. Its published list is specific: flag-making competition, pirate training, a pirate dance, the pirate oath, swim stops with walk the plank, a Davey Jones sword fight, a floss dance competition, and a war on land with guns and cannons.
Lunch is served on board and is in the ticket: the ship's page lists chicken, potatoes, rice, coleslaw, tzatziki and bread, while the day-cruise page describes it as roast chicken with roast potatoes and salad. Drinks are bought separately.
Sailing is at 10:30 and the return is around 14:30. A return transfer is offered, and this is the one number to settle before you pay: the operator's day-cruise page says €5 per person and the ship's own page says €6 per person.
The same operator runs a second, quieter daytime boat — the Santa Napa, which sails to the Famagusta ghost town line for €35 an adult — and takes private charters of two to four hours on the Black Pearl and other hulls, priced by phone only. Bookings and questions go to the ticket hotline.
What are the highlights?
- A costumed show that runs the whole four hours — pirate training, the oath, a Davey Jones sword fight, a treasure hunt and a cannon battle
- Two swimming stops, and the plank is part of the programme rather than a joke about it
- Lunch included: chicken, potatoes, rice, coleslaw, tzatziki and bread
- Three decks, so there is shade below and a view above — guests recommend the lower deck by the forward doors on a hot day

“Would highly recommend The Black Pearl Ayia Napa. We have been on many boat trips over the last many years but this is the best so far. You are entertained from start to finish. Both adults and children find it fun, and the staff do an incredible job. Great food and drinks. Try it on your next trip to Ayia Napa.”
“Unfortunately I did not enjoy this trip as far as the entertainment goes. We were promised a Russian translation and there was none. We swam and looked at the coastal rocks and grottoes. The boat did not come anywhere near Famagusta.”
“I can recommend it to anyone, with or without children. A cool four-hour trip with two stops for swimming and jumping off the boat. Tasty lunch on board and good, reasonably priced cocktails. The show is nice and the outfits are cool. Take sunscreen and towels. Best to sit on the lower deck by the doors right at the front — you get shade there, you can still follow the show, and Captain Jack hangs about there a lot.”
