It was a fascinating trip, and we enjoyed every minute of it. A special thank you to Anna, who made this trip even more enjoyable with her kindness, positive energy, and professionalism. She captured beautiful photos and memorable videos for us. She also filmed us with a GoPro while we were swimming and sent us the video afterwards, which was such a thoughtful touch. We saw four turtles and even got to swim with them! The meal was good, and I'd also like to mention that the music on board was excellent.
What is this tour like?
Out of Ayia Napa harbour at 9:00 on a 60-foot catamaran, along the sea caves and Cape Greco to two hour-long swimming stops — the Blue Lagoon and Konnos Bay, where the turtles are. Cypriot barbecue cooked on deck while you swim. Back at 13:30. €45 per adult, €25 per child aged 2 to 10, free for infants under two.
The operator's own argument for the morning slot is simple: it is before the crowds, before the heat, and, as the site puts it, the time when the turtles are still out. The route runs southeast from Ayia Napa harbour, which locals call Limanaki, towards Protaras — Ayia Napa caves, the Love Bridge, the sea caves, Cape Greco, the lighthouse, the sea arch, St Mary's cave and the cliff church go past on the way. Scubacat describes its cruises as running into the Cape Greco Marine Reserve and itself as fully licensed and eco-certified, working to leave zero impact on that water.
The two stops are what the day is built around, an hour each. The Blue Lagoon is the photograph everyone comes back with; Konnos Bay is where the boat looks for turtles. The operator is careful about the promise: turtles are seen on over 90 per cent of cruises, but they are wild animals and nothing is guaranteed in advance.
While the guests are in the water the crew cooks lunch. It is a real Cypriot barbecue, not a lunchbox: chicken souvlaki from Captain Jimmy's family recipe, grilled halloumi, tzatziki made with Greek yoghurt, vegetable salad, pourgouri and village bread bought that morning. The chicken is halal-certified, fruit is included, and a vegan or vegetarian portion is prepared if you flag it when booking. Drinks are sold separately at the bar; you may bring your own food, but alcohol is not allowed on board.
Captain Jimmy built the boat himself and has forty years at sea and under it. Two decks, shower and toilet, life jackets and Wi-Fi are free; the snorkelling masks are free too, but you leave a refundable €20 in cash against losing one.
Departure is at 9:00 and return at 13:30, every day, though the operator warns that the time shifts with the month and the weather and that the route can change if the sea demands it. Be at the port ten minutes before departure.
What are the highlights?

- Halal-certified chicken, and a vegan or vegetarian plate on request — say so in the booking comments

“This boat trip was one of the highlights of our holiday. Everything was incredibly well organized, and the boat itself felt modern and very comfortable. The crew was outstanding, always happy to chat, and shared interesting information about the sights along the way. The absolute highlight was seeing sea turtles in their natural habitat. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to use snorkeling equipment you will need to pay a refundable deposit.”
“Back in 2023, when we first came to Cyprus, we started getting to know the island through boat trips. We were on various yachts, and on none of them did we see the promised turtles — until we found Scuba Cat. Now, when we take a trip with friends now and then, we meet turtles every single time. The whole trip lasts four and a half hours, with two swimming stops: turtle bay and the blue lagoon. And a delicious lunch on top: home-made grilled halloumi and chicken souvlaki with bulgur and vegetables.”
“A really great outing with enough time to swim and enjoy it. Sadly we were not granted any turtles that day, but there were dolphins to see instead. Very friendly crew, extremely helpful, and a good barbecue. Happy to recommend it.”
“A great boat trip along the coast from Ayia Napa to Protaras. Two stops for swimming and a great barbecue on board. Good value for money.”
