Ayia Napa & Protaras, Cyprus · 1h · up to 5 guests · €80 per boat for the first hour — Jaroma, up to 5 people, 100hp · EN · RU
We spent two half-days with XS. On day one we did wakeboarding and water-skiing, starting with lessons and moving on to being towed behind. Then the kids went in the towed inflatables, which they loved. On day two we rented a self-drive boat for four hours. They lent us a cooler and snorkels and masks and off we went, diving in the clear waters of the Blue Lagoon.

The fleet is the reason to come here rather than to a single-boat operator, because the boat can be matched to the group and the budget instead of the other way round. In ascending order: Jaroma, 16ft, 100hp, five people, €80 then €60 an hour; Four Winns Family, 18ft, 100hp, six people, €100 then €70; Azzara, 16ft, 80hp, seven people, €120 then €80; Campion Sport, 19ft, 130hp, seven, €130 then €80; Campion Family, 19ft, 150hp, seven, €140 then €85; Sea Ray SPX 190, 19ft, 150hp, eight, €180 then €100, with a swimming platform; Sea Ray Luxury, 20.5ft, 250hp, seven, €200 then €120, with a shower; and Four Winns Luxury, 22ft, 250hp, nine, €240 then €140, also with a shower. Every boat is available daily from 09:00 to 19:00 and can be hired for up to eight hours.
The operator's own line on paperwork is that anyone aged eighteen or over can rent without a boat licence under Cyprus law, and that a full safety briefing and basic training come before you set off. A German guest describes exactly that: an online booking, a briefing at the start, and a trip that went smoothly from there.
The route the operator lays out runs north to south from its own beach: Turtle Bay, the underwater statues near Green Bay, Turtle Beach at the Cyclops Cave, the clifftop church of Ayioi Anargyroi, Lovers Bridge and finally the Blue Lagoon at Cape Greco. Snorkelling gear is available on request, and guests mention being lent coolers, masks and snorkels.
Two things the site does not say, and both cost money. It never states whether fuel is included — unusual enough that it is worth settling before you cast off. And each boat carries what the site calls a deposit «per hour», €20 on the small boats, €30 in the middle and €50 on the two most powerful, with no explanation of what it covers or when it comes back. Ask about both when you book.
If nobody in the party wants to drive, the operator also runs the same coastline with a professional captain aboard.
What are the highlights?
- Eight boats to choose between rather than one — five to nine seats, 80 to 250 horsepower, 16 to 22 feet
- The second hour is always cheaper than the first, so a half-day costs far less than the headline figure multiplied out
- VHF radio, life jackets, a bimini top, a swim ladder, a cooler and Bluetooth on every boat, with snorkelling gear on request
- A captain can be taken instead of driving yourself — the operator offers guided trips on the same boats

“We hired a 100hp boat today for three hours and extended it on the spot by another hour, simply because it was such fun. The boat was excellent and perfect for a lads' trip. The best part, though, was the service: one of us lost his phone in the water. The boss took us back out specially and dived down to the phone himself.”
“We hired a boat online. The process went smoothly. There was a briefing at the start and after that our trip went perfectly. We had a great time. Highly recommended.”
“The best watersports service in Protaras. Competent, polite staff who speak both English and Russian. Professionals at what they do.”
