Great experience with the crew on the Moana. We had a charter from 2 pm to 6 pm for our group of 13, and we all had the best time. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out or hang out all together. The itinerary was very well planned as well. We stopped to snorkel next to a sunken ship and saw plenty of colorful fish. We even caught a glimpse of a sea turtle coming up for air as we sailed by. We then anchored by Isla Mujeres and enjoyed the shallow waters and a deliciously cooked meal by the crew. And on our way back to the marina, we were able to watch the perfect sunset. Overall, this was an exceptional and memorable experience and I would highly recommend to book with this crew!! The pick up and drop off to and from our resort to the marina was also very efficient. No complaints!!
What is this tour like?
The Moana is a 40-foot Fountaine Pajot catamaran owned and hosted by Patrick Jouault, a French chef with a restaurant and wine background who speaks French, English and Spanish. It sails from Marina Hacienda del Mar on the Puerto Juárez–Punta Sam road, north of downtown Cancún, and the trip is private: nobody else is on board. The operator publishes two four-hour packages at the same price, from $1,495 for the boat. The Group Private Charter takes up to 15 guests, with open bar, wine and a snorkel stop with gear and life vests; food cooked on board costs extra. The Luxury Service takes up to 8, with a premium open bar, wine, a two-course gourmet meal cooked on board, the snorkel stop and sailing time when the weather allows.
Four hours are spent at sea: time ashore in downtown Isla Mujeres is offered only on services of five hours or more, and six hours cost from $1,830, with extra hours from $360. The operator argues for a catamaran on comfort: two hulls, no heeling and no side-to-side roll, which it says suits children, older guests and anyone prone to seasickness. It describes the snorkelling as a secluded spot without crowds or strong waves, with the crew nearby, and lists lobster, fresh salad, risotto and flambéed desserts among the dishes Patrick cooks. The price is per boat, so a group of ten on the four-hour charter pays about $150 each; the mandatory dock fee is not included and its amount is not published.

“We had an absolutely perfect day. Would recommend to anyone, and would happily rebook next time we’re in Cancun. We were three adults, two teens, a tween, and a toddler. The crew was absolutely fantastic especially with my toddler and eight year old who were too scared to snorkel. At all times, we felt safe and well cared for. The food on board was fantastic, absolutely delicious. The drinks flowed without asking. Everything was perfection.”
“We spent a perfect day on the Moana catamaran! The crew's attention was ten out of ten. Snorkelling at a sunken ship watching endless exotic fish, and we also saw some turtles swimming near the boat. Crystal-clear water, delicious food, open drinks, a crew that was always attentive and kind; in short, a perfect way to disconnect!”
“We had the BEST time aboard the Moana with Patrick and his amazing crew! From snorkeling in crystal-clear waters to cruising the coastline, every moment was unforgettable. The service was so exceptional that we ended up booking with them again during the same trip. Yes, it was that good! Highly recommend, and we absolutely can’t wait to come back!”
