What is this tour like?
Two hours out of Corralejo on FuerteCharter's electric catamaran: fifteen minutes coasting the Lobos village, then fifty minutes anchored off Playa de La Concha for snorkelling and a retractable slide into the sea. €30 per adult and €18 per child aged 4 to 11, one drink included.
The shape of the trip is unusually explicit, and worth reading before you compare it with anything else. The operator gives the timings itself: departure at 13:15 from Corralejo, or 13:35 from Isla de Lobos, ending at 15:15. About fifteen minutes of that is a gentle run along the village on the islet; fifty minutes is spent at anchor in front of La Concha. In other words, most of the time you have paid for is spent stopped, in the water, rather than in transit — which is the opposite of how a two-hour boat trip usually breaks down.
At the anchorage there is snorkelling with the goggles and snorkel provided, and, for the less cautious, the boat's slide, which the operator describes as retractable and iconic in the same breath. The deck is deliberately split: the bow is an "Adults Only" area for people who came for quiet, the stern is the family meeting point where the slide is. That split is the whole design argument of the boat.
The mini-cruise also works as one piece of a longer day. The operator's instruction is plain: book the mini-cruise, then in the "Comments" box of the booking say which crossings you want. Outbound ECO Fast Ferry departures from Corralejo are at 9:30, 10:45 and 12:00; returns from Isla de Lobos at 15:15, 16:15, 17:30 and 18:45, the last of those in the summer timetable only. So you can go over in the morning, walk the island, join the mini-cruise at 13:15, and then either go straight back to Corralejo or be dropped on Lobos again to carry on.
One free drink is included — water, a soft drink, beer or sangria — and the bar area on board sells more. Boarding closes five minutes before departure, and changing a departure or return time means calling the office to check availability.
One thing to keep straight: the mini-cruise itself does not land you on Lobos, and the operator's system does not attach the Isla de Lobos authorisation to it. The permit question belongs to whichever ferry crossing you use to step ashore.
What are the highlights?
- Fifty of the one hundred and twenty minutes are spent at anchor off Playa de La Concha, not under way
- A retractable slide straight into the sea at the stern, and snorkelling goggles and snorkel included
- The boat is split on purpose: an adults-only area at the bow, the family point with the slide at the stern
- It can be slotted into a full day on Lobos: any ECO Fast Ferry crossing out, the mini-cruise at 13:15, then ashore again or straight back
