A fantastic experience. What I appreciated most is that there were few people on the catamaran, so the trip was relaxing and not crowded at all. The staff were genuinely kind, warm and always available, making us feel at ease for the whole outing. I recommend it warmly.
What is this tour like?
The same 18:45 sunset sailing off Playa de La Concha, sold adults only: snorkelling, kayaks and paddle boards, cava and unlimited drinks, on a catamaran the operator's fleet lists at twelve. €60 per adult.
FuerteCharter runs two sunset catamarans on the same schedule, and the difference between them is who is aboard. This one it names in Spanish as "Sunset Luxury - Sólo adultos" and describes as an adults-only experience designed for you to relax, enjoy the sea and watch the sunset from a unique vantage point. In its booking system the product is flagged as accepting neither children nor babies, which is the hard version of that promise rather than a suggestion.
The programme is the operator's standard sunset run and it is a good one. You sail towards Lobos with music on and stop in the south at the sheltered anchorage off Playa de La Concha; anyone who wants to takes one of the two kayaks or two paddle boards, or a mask, and looks at a protected natural park from underneath. Then the boat holds position for the sunset, with mattresses on a wide deck, drinks that the operator calls unlimited throughout the excursion — soft drinks, beer, white and red wine, water, coffee and tea — and cava with a fruit brochette. Underwater photographs are included, and the crew shoots the whole trip.
The scale is the argument for the extra €10 over the Deluxe. The two boats the operator assigns to this excursion are a Lagoon 400 and a Lagoon 440, and its own fleet pages give both a capacity of twelve — where the Deluxe's boats are rated at twenty and thirty. Twelve adults on a catamaran of that size is a different evening from thirty people of mixed ages.
Book ahead: the operator sets a twelve-hour cut-off on online reservations for this trip. And note what it is not — the boat anchors off the islet rather than landing, so no Isla de Lobos authorisation is involved and the operator's booking form does not ask for one.
What are the highlights?
- Adults only, by the operator's own setting — no children and no babies are sold on this boat
- Both catamarans assigned to it — a Lagoon 400 and a Lagoon 440 — are twelve-capacity boats in the operator's fleet
- Unlimited drinks and cava with a fruit brochette, same as the Deluxe
- Kayaks, paddle boards and snorkelling at the sheltered anchorage off La Concha
