We hired the private catamaran for our group and it was a really great experience. A very nice, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful views and excellent service. The whole trip was organised very well, and the food and drinks were a big plus. I definitely recommend it.
What is this tour like?
The same four-hour Corralejo-to-Lobos trip as the shared departure, but the catamaran is yours: €520 for the boat, up to ten people, with food, drinks, wetsuits, masks and four paddleboards included. Morning slot 10:00–14:00 or afternoon 14:15–18:15.
This is the private version of the trip Lobos in Catamaran has been running since 2015, and the arithmetic is the interesting part. The shared boat costs €65 an adult and takes ten guests; the private charter costs €520 for the same ten places. At full load that is €52 a head, so a group of eight or more is paying less per person for the whole boat than it would for individual seats — and a couple or a family of four is paying a genuine premium for privacy, €130 each at four.
What happens on the water does not change. The catamaran leaves Muelle de Corralejo, sails about half an hour across the strait to the islet of Lobos, and stops in front of it for the long part of the day: snorkelling with masks and wetsuits the boat carries for ten, four paddleboards, and the crew watching. Lunch is cooked fresh that day from local, seasonal produce — papas arrugadas con mojo, Spanish omelette, fruit salad — with soft drinks, water, beer, sangria and Spanish wine included.
The practical rules are the same as for the shared trip. Two time slots, 10:00 to 14:00 and 14:15 to 18:15. Online reservations are not accepted on the day of the excursion and must be made at least 24 hours ahead; for anything shorter, phone Oscar. Pick-up is available on request within the Corralejo area only, for a maximum of seven passengers, and the operator names Cotillo, Origomare, Lajares, Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste as places it does not serve.
What are the highlights?
- The whole boat for one group — no strangers on deck for four hours
- €520 flat, so ten people work out at €52 each and a family of four at €130
- Same kit as the shared trip: masks and wetsuits for ten and four paddleboards
- A Canarian lunch cooked on the day, with soft drinks, beer, sangria and Spanish wine
