What is this tour like?

This is a private charter, and the first thing worth saying plainly is that 29,000 THB is the price of the boat, not of a seat. Up to ten anglers travel on that figure — with a full boat it works out at about 2,900 each — and a group of eleven to fifteen pays 35,000 for the same day.

The day runs from Ao Chalong Pier: check-in at the operator's office at 08:00, lines out at 08:30. You troll on the way to Racha Yai, then fish the bottom with spinning gear or handline over the reefs. At 13:00 a buffet lunch is served on board with time to swim, and from 15:00 the boat trolls its way home, back at Chalong at 17:00.

Rods, reels and tackle are included, along with lunch, morning coffee and tea, soft drinks, fruit, snacks, life jackets, mask and snorkel and accident insurance. Two things are not: the road transfer to the pier and a separate guide. The operator does not publish a transfer price, so we confirm it with them when you book rather than quote you a number we invented.

What you catch can be cooked on the boat — worth knowing before you plan dinner.

FAQ

Is 29,000 THB per person or per boat?
Per boat. It covers one to ten anglers, so with a full boat it is about 2,900 each; a couple pays the same total as a party of ten. Groups of eleven to fifteen pay 35,000 for the boat.
Do we need to bring tackle?
No — rods, reels and tackle are included, so bring nothing of your own. Bring a hat and sunscreen; mask and snorkel, life jackets and insurance are on board too.
Can we eat what we catch?
Yes — the operator says the fish you catch can be cooked on the boat, alongside the buffet lunch served at 13:00 off Racha Yai. Whether you may take the rest home is worth asking when you book.
What is not included?
Two things: the road transfer to Ao Chalong Pier and a separate guide. The operator does not publish a transfer price, so we confirm it with them before you pay rather than quote a figure.
When is the best time of year to fish here?
The operator fishes year round and names November as the month with the greatest variety of fish. No closed season is published for fishing in the Andaman Sea, so there is no month you cannot go.
How does a private boat compare with a shared fishing trip?
Shared trips from Chalong operators start around 2,300–3,500 THB per person. This boat is 29,000 for up to ten — roughly 2,900 each when full — and nobody else is aboard, so the schedule and the spots are yours.
