What is this tour like?
Two dives — the shallow Atlantic Princess wreck and the Peñón reef — then lunch and beach time on Saona, with Piscina Natural on the way back. $199 per diver including transfer from Punta Cana.
Most Saona days are catamaran parties. This one is built around the diving, and the fact that the Atlantic Princess sits in shallow water is what makes it work for ordinary Open Water divers: a wreck without the depth that usually comes with one.
Included are both dives, equipment, tanks, weights, the guide and lunch on Saona; water, cola, pineapple and biscuits are on the boat. Nitrox is $12 a tank on request and there is a $40 deposit per diver.
The day ends back in Punta Cana around 17:00 to 18:30. If you are staying in Bayahibe instead, the same trip is $149 per diver without the Punta Cana transfer, which is the better deal if you are already on that side.
What are the highlights?
- The Atlantic Princess lies shallow, so it is a wreck you can dive without an Advanced card
- A full day: two dives, lunch on Saona and a stop at Piscina Natural
- A non-diving partner can come along and snorkel for $95
- Nitrox on request at $12 a tank
