Blue Stars has been running this day out of Samui since 1997, and it is built around the kayaks rather than around the boat. The first paddle is at Koh Tai Plao, in the remote far north of Ang Thong, where the operator says it is normally the only boat: rock overhangs, tunnels, small caves and a hidden lagoon.
How much paddling is really in the day?#
Two sessions, not one token paddle. The first runs from about 10:00 at Koh Tai Plao. The second comes in the afternoon at Koh Wua Talap, where you pick one thing: kayak around the adjacent islet, climb to the park viewpoint, walk to Bua Bok Cave with its stalagmites, or stay on the beach. The kayaks are Ocean Kayak Malibu II sit-on-top doubles, each with a dry bag for a camera.
How is the day shaped?#
An air-conditioned minibus collects you at 07:00 and the boat leaves Nathon at 08:00 with a light breakfast and the briefing. Kayaking at Koh Tai Plao from 10:00, snorkelling and swimming from 11:00, the Thai lunch buffet at noon while cruising to Koh Mae Ko, the short but steep climb to the Emerald Lake platform at 12:30, Koh Wua Talap at 13:30, out of the park at 15:00 and your hotel by around 18:00.
What if the weather or your plans change?#
The operator publishes a plain schedule of what a cancellation costs, and it turns on how much notice it gets. If the operator itself cancels for weather or a technical problem and the trip cannot be moved inside your stay, the refund is full.

What is worth checking before you book?#
- Your child's age. The price page puts the child rate at 5 to 11, while the cancellation page words the bracket as 6 to 11 — confirm it with the operator when you book.
- Small children in the kayak. Each Malibu II takes two adults or two adults and one small child, and the operator does not permit children aged three and under to kayak.
- Coming from Koh Phangan. The crossing is yours to make: the operator recommends the 07:15 Lomprayah catamaran, which reaches Nathon at 07:45, right beside the boat.
- Footwear. The climb on Koh Mae Ko is short but quite steep, and the operator's own kit list asks for sandals or trainers alongside swimwear, a towel, two T-shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen and a camera.
- Language. Guides work in English, German and Thai.
Important
The marine park entrance fee is inside the price and nothing is collected for it on the day — and the rate itself drops with the group, to ฿2,700 per person from three and ฿2,600 from five, so it pays to book everyone together rather than one by one.
