Half-days split the same lake at 14:00 and cost less: the early bird session runs 08:00 to 14:00, the predator session 14:00 to 20:00. Four hours are sold by arrangement only, and arapaima is a session of its own rather than a fish you add to the day.

This is a lake day, not a sea day. TopCats sits at Taling Ngam in the south-west of Koh Samui, holds giant Siamese carp, Mekong catfish, Amazon redtail catfish and arapaima, and sells a ticket to the water rather than a seat on a boat. What you are buying is a peg, tackle, bait and a guide who works the fish for you.
What is the swim like?#
Ten shaded fishing salas stand around the water, each with cushioned seating, power, lighting, cool boxes and clean towels, with 5G wifi all round the lake and room for a fan or umbrella. Waitress service brings food and drink to the sala, so you never have to leave the rods to eat. Some pegs are doubles for fishing beside a friend.
Do you bring tackle and bait?#
No — everything needed is inside the ticket. Each angler gets two set-ups with one predator rod allowed at a time: Century rods, Shimano Bait Runner reels, Gamma line, Pallatrax end tackle and Delkim alarms. The daily pack is a kilo of 20 mm boilies, Pallatrax Jungle Pop Ups, three kilos of Mufford/feeder mix, 500 g of maize, three loaves and a kilo of dead bait. Bring your own end tackle and a guide checks it first.
What are the house rules?#
They are written for the fish as much as for you. The guide sets the drag, bait runners stay engaged while the rod is in the pod, and rod sharing is not permitted. Fish are not weighed — the guides give an estimate for your records. After a catch they net and unhook it, treat the hook holds with antiseptic and let the fish recover over oxygen before you get into the water for the photograph.
What is worth checking before you book?#
- Which session you want. The half-days split at 14:00, the four-hour ticket exists by arrangement only, and arapaima is booked as its own five-hour session.
- Bait. The daily pack is included, but the resort advises at least 2 kg of boilies on a full day and sells extra at the lake.
- Company. Some pegs are doubles; three private swims are reserved for guests staying in the premium suite bungalows.
- What the ticket is not: day tickets are fishing only, and the bungalows come with the resort's holiday packages instead.
- What to bring yourself — the resort's own list is a hat, sunglasses, factor 50+ sunblock and a camera.
Important
฿7,000 is the price per person fishing, not a seat in a boat, and the no-catch-no-cash policy applies to the twelve-hour full-day package only. Shorter sessions are not covered by it, so pick the length with that in mind.
