What it costs
On Charter in Palma is €450 per boat for up to six, or €75 a head when it is full.
Routes and departure times
Those two are eight-hour days: board around 10:00, cruise to the calas, anchor to swim and snorkel, and return to the marina by about 17:30. Small boats need no licence until 30 September 2026 and come with a briefing on the controls; larger yachts need a licence or a skipper, which the operators provide. On those two, the rental, safety gear and briefing are in the price — fuel, food, marina fees and transfers are not.
Three more come with a skipper: On Charter's half day from Palma from €500 for up to five, fuel included; BlueBayCharter's four hours from Can Picafort at €500 (€350 boat + €150 captain), fuel extra; and Blauxell's full day from Port de Pollença at €1,049 for up to six, fuel and drinks included.
Important: the licence-free hire has an end date. Until 30 September 2026 a boat under 5 metres with a motor of up to 15 CV may be hired without a licence, no further than 2 nautical miles from the port, in daylight only and from the age of 18.
From 1 October 2026 RD 1188/2025 asks the person hiring the boat for the relevant qualification, so on a date after that, settle with the operator which boat it can still hand over and on what terms.

Is the price per person or per boat?
Per boat. €260 is the full-day boat for up to eight — €32.50 each when full — and €450 the On Charter day boat for up to six, €75 each. The skippered options are €500 to €1,049 per boat. A couple pays the same as a full group.
Do we need a boat licence?
Until 30 September 2026, not for the small boats — those are licence-free and come with a briefing on the controls. Larger yachts need a licence or a skipper, and both operators can put a skipper aboard. From 1 October 2026 RD 1188/2025 keeps the licence-free exception for private and sporting use only, so on a hire the person renting the boat must hold the relevant qualification: for a date after that, ask the operator what it can still hand over.
What is not in the price?
Fuel, food and drinks, marina and entry fees, and transfers to the marina are paid on top — except fuel on On Charter's skippered half day, fuel and drinks on Blauxell, and soft drinks on BlueBayCharter. The rental itself, safety gear and the pre-departure briefing are included, plus the skipper on skippered options.
Which of the two full-day boats suits us better?
On Charter sails from a Palma marina, takes up to six and briefs in Spanish, English and German — about nine minutes by car from central Palma. Mallorca 4 Boat is cheaper at €260 for up to eight and works in Spanish and English, with the marina confirmed when you book.
Renting a boat on Mallorca: what to know
Are we paying for the boat or per person?#
Mallorca 4 Boat and On Charter's Palma day are eight-hour day charters priced per boat. Mallorca 4 Boat is €260 for up to eight guests; On Charter in Palma is €450 for up to six. Filling the boat is what makes it cheap: €32.50 and €75 a head respectively, while two people pay the same figure a full boat would. These are the starting rates; the operator confirms the final price when you book.
How does the day run?#
You board around 10:00 for the briefing and cast off. On Charter heads for the caves of Portals Vells, anchors for a swim, stops at a beach club or picnics on board, passes the El Toro islet and is back in Palma by about 17:30. What if we would rather not steer?#

If you would rather not have the hull to yourselves at all, a seat on a shared boat trip costs a fraction of a charter.
What else is there on Mallorca if eight hours is too much?#
If eight hours with the hull to yourselves is more than you need:

Important
Fuel is in neither the Mallorca 4 Boat nor the On Charter day price, and BlueBayCharter bills it by consumption, so budget for it separately along with marina fees and lunch.
