The licence-free route has an end date. Until 30 September 2026 a boat under 5 metres with a motor of up to 15 CV may be hired without a licence, no further than 2 nautical miles from the port, in daylight only and from the age of 18. From Marina Ibiza the classic day boards at 10:00, crosses to Formentera at 11:00, stops for lunch and coves at 13:00, runs the west-coast calas at 16:00 and is back at 18:00.
From Santa Eulària the route stays on the calmer east coast — Cala Llonga, Es Canar and quiet calas — with Formentera trips available on request. Safety gear and life jackets are included on both; food and drinks, marina and entry fees and transfers are not.

RD 1188/2025 rewrites article 10 of RD 875/2014: from 1 October 2026 the licence-free exception in Spain covers private and sporting use only, so the person hiring a motorboat of up to 5 metres and 15 CV must hold a qualification. Jet skis are taken out of the rule, skippered boats are untouched, and until 30 September 2026 nothing changes. What it means for a booking you have already paid for.
