A seat on a shared boat or the whole boat — which is cheaper in Valencia?
Seats start at €12 per person for fifty minutes and €35 for three hours. Whole boats are sold per boat: €100 for up to twelve guests, €110 for a licence-free boat for five (licence-free until 30.09.2026). From about nine guests the private boat costs less per head than the same number of seats.
Do you need a boat licence to rent in Valencia?
Not for every option, and the answer changes on 1 October 2026. One boat here is licence-free and goes out for five guests from €110 per boat an hour, with a safety briefing at the dock. Important: that exemption runs until 30 September 2026 — a boat under 5 metres with a motor of up to 15 CV, no further than 2 nautical miles from the port, in daylight only and from the age of 18. From 1 October 2026 RD 1188/2025 requires the person hiring the boat to hold the relevant qualification. The other private boats come with a skipper, so no licence is needed there either, and that does not change. Where do the boats leave from and how long is the drive?
From the marinas in the city port. By car it is about fifteen minutes from the city centre, seventeen from Malvarrosa, nineteen from El Saler and twenty-one from the airport. Valencia is compact, so no dawn start is needed for a morning boat.
Why does the trip to the Cullera coves cost more?
It is a four-hour private speedboat at €420 per boat, against €100 for two hours near the city. The coves lie south of Valencia, and by road Cullera itself is forty-five to fifty minutes away — it is a day out, not a quick harbour trip.
How long do the trips last?
From fifty minutes to four hours. Fifty minutes is a harbour and beachfront loop, two to three hours reach the open water off the city, and four hours are needed for the Cullera coves. Pick by how far you want to get, not by price alone.
Is a skipper included?
On the private boats and the shared catamarans, yes — the crew or a skipper is part of the price. The licence-free boat — licence-free until 30.09.2026 — you steer yourself after a briefing at the dock. Fuel policy differs by boat, so ask the operator when you book.

Seats are charged per head and boats once, so the two figures do not compare at a glance. Twelve places at €12 come to €144, while the €100 private boat carries the same twelve; the €139 Arrecife hour carries five, which is €27.80 each.
From roughly nine guests the whole boat is the cheaper way to get everyone on the water, and it comes with a skipper.
