Do you need a licence to charter a boat in Phuket?
No. Thai rules mean every hull sails with its own captain and crew, so you choose the route and the timing rather than steering. Nobody outside your group is on board.
What is not included in the charter price?
Fuel by destination on the catamaran (฿10,000 to ฿38,000), guests over the base capacity (฿2,000 a head for eleven to fifteen), national park fees on the Phi Phi and Phang Nga routes, and the road transfer on the longtail (฿1,500 round trip per car). The private Phi Phi charter is ฿29,000 for two to ten guests, eight hours from Royal Phuket Marina, with the pickup hour your choice between 06:00 and 09:00.
Yacht, catamaran or longtail?
The Silver Craft 31 from Hartt Voyages is ฿55,000 for a half day and ฿65,000 for a full one, up to six guests, with lunch, drinks and a round-trip transfer from anywhere on Phuket already inside and the same price on every route. The Shibuli 40 power catamaran is ฿59,000 for four hours and ฿73,000–89,000 for eight depending on season, ten guests in the price and fifteen on board. The rebuilt longtail is the cheapest way in at ฿9,900 for a half day.
What is added to the boat price?
The longtail's road transfer is ฿1,500 round trip per car. National park fees are outside the rate on the Phi Phi and Phang Nga routes — ask for the amount on your route when you book.

fuel and guests over the base capacity are separate lines. Tiger Marine publishes its fuel surcharge by destination — ฿10,000 for Phang Nga, Khai, Maiton and Rang Yai, ฿23,000 with Hong Krabi, ฿35,000 for Phi Phi, Krabi Poda or Racha Yai, ฿38,000 for Racha Noi — and charges ฿2,000 a head for guests eleven to fifteen.
When does the whole boat beat a group seat?
Around eight to ten guests. Ten people on the ฿29,000 Phi Phi charter is about ฿2,900 a head, which undercuts premium group seats and buys your own departure time as well. Thai rules mean every hull sails with its captain and crew, so no licence or experience is needed.
