Three hours or a whole day?#
The $50 to $65 end is an afternoon off Bávaro: Kimbara gives three hours on a 70-foot catamaran with the bar open throughout, Pink Cat breaks its three hours into a snorkelling stop at Cabo Engaño with a slide, a natural pool with a floating bar and a run back along the beach. The island days are eight to ten hours and change the shape of the holiday rather than the afternoon — Saona at $89 to $90 per adult.
- Natural pool
- a shallow sandbank offshore where the boats stop and people stand in waist-deep water.
- Cabo Engaño
- the cape at the eastern tip of the country, the usual snorkelling stop on the Bávaro party boats.
- Mano Juan
- the fishing village on Saona, with painted wooden houses.
What the drinks policy actually is#
Marinarium serves rum, beer, vodka, lemonades, citrus punch and water, but only after the snorkelling — the bar stays shut until everyone is back on board. Pink Cat includes alcoholic drinks and sets the minimum age at 12. Kimbara’s open bar runs for the whole three hours.
Is the transfer in the price?#
Marinarium includes pick-up from Punta Cana hotels and charges $10 from Bayahibe and $15 from La Romana, paid in cash on the bus. Pink Cat does not include transfer from outside Punta Cana. Eco Adventures sets the pick-up time by where your hotel is.
- Which day of the week you need: Eco Adventures runs daily from Punta Cana and Bayahibe, but only on Thursdays from Playa Nueva Romana, Juan Dolio and Boca Chica.
- Whether snorkelling gear is included or rented: PUNTA CANA TRIP lists it as a rental at the stop.
- What children pay: PUNTA CANA TRIP charges $45 for a child on its Saona day, and Marinarium sets no age limit but requires an adult.
Important
PUNTA CANA TRIP gives the length of its Saona day as both 8 hours and approximately 8–10 hours. Plan for the longer figure, especially if you have a flight that evening.
