A boat day off Bali costs IDR 200,000 (≈ $12) to IDR 1,800,000 (≈ $106) per person, and the price mostly tells you where you start: on Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan the manta sites are a short ride away, while from mainland Bali the fast boat from Sanur and the hotel pickup are part of the bill.

The manta sites lie off Nusa Penida, across the Badung Strait from Sanur; Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, joined by the Yellow Bridge, sit beside it. Manta Snorkeling Penida describes Manta Bay as a sheltered corner of the north-west coast where reef mantas feed near the surface. Manta Point is a cleaning station on the south side, facing the open sea.
Manta Bay or Manta Point?#
The operators see it differently. Ceningan Paradise Adventures calls Manta Point the place with the highest chance, especially in the morning, about 45 minutes by boat from Lembongan, and says Manta Bay, 15 minutes away, has less consistent sightings. Manta Snorkeling Penida calls Manta Bay the most consistent site on the island and the one that keeps running when swell closes the south coast.
Can I go from mainland Bali for the day?#
Yes. Lembongan Trip and Kinara Nusatour collect you from your hotel and put you on a fast boat from Sanur. Lembongan Island Tour and Manta Snorkeling Penida sell a Sanur option at IDR 900,000 (≈ $53) and IDR 400,000 (≈ $24). Ceningan Paradise's Manta Point trip and the Utopia cruise start on Lembongan; the catamaran has no transfer, and its team helps you call a local taxi on the island.
What changes the price inside one trip?#
Group size and age. Kinara Nusatour charges IDR 1,800,000 (≈ $106) each for 2, IDR 1,450,000 (≈ $85) for 3, IDR 1,200,000 (≈ $71) for 4 and IDR 1,100,000 (≈ $65) from 5. Lembongan Trip takes IDR 875,000 (≈ $51) for a child aged 4–12, and Lembongan Island Tour gives IDR 50,000 (≈ $3) off for children 3–10, with under-3s free. Paying by card adds 3% at Lembongan Island Tour and at the Utopia ticket office.
When are mantas most likely?#
Manta Snorkeling Penida says reef mantas live around Nusa Penida all year, with the most consistent sightings from April to October, Bali's dry season, when the sea is calmest and visibility reaches 15–30 m. From December to February the south-coast swell is bigger, Manta Point closes more often and boats go to Manta Bay. If Manta Bay is empty, Lembongan Trip goes on to Manta Point at no extra cost when the weather allows.

Important
Ceningan Paradise Adventures calls its Manta Point trip «98% Guarantee», yet its own notes say wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed 100%, and it publishes no refund for a trip without mantas. Mantas are wild animals on every boat here.
