Why dive from Chaloklum?#
All three centres sit in Chaloklum, on Koh Phangan's north coast, the closest side to Sail Rock. Sail Rock Divers leaves the pier at about 8:00 and is back between 13:30 and 14:00. The Diver's Boat leaves later, at 9:30, and caps its boat at 20 people. Koh Tao and Ang Thong are about two and a half hours away; Sail Rock Divers charges ฿3,700 (≈ $102) for a two-dive trip there.

Can a non-diver come along?#
Yes. The Dive Inn takes snorkellers on its Sail Rock boat for ฿1,700 (≈ $47) with breakfast, lunch, gear and insurance. There is no guide in the water: the instructors brief you on the site and the crew stays on the boat. The centre recommends Sail Rock for snorkelling only when it judges conditions safe.
How does a first dive work?#
The Diver's Boat registers you at the shop the day before, puts gear in your size on the boat and starts in the calm water at Koh Ma, with at most two students per instructor. If you are comfortable, Sail Rock is possible too. ฿4,200 (≈ $116) covers the day, a hot lunch, fruit and drinks; the minimum age is 8.
